Not like we can't sign him in the offseason for cheaper.

Fong, did you see the post where we could offer only the rookie scale contract? That means other teams can offer MLE and beat us out. I think that's the big question.

What if we opt out of Leonard and he explodes this season? Another team could offer him 4 mil and we couldn't match

disagree, too expensive too keep for a guy who very likely won't get much playing time this year

You think trob would want to change teams again when he could win rings here

if some idiotic GM wants to offer Trob the MLE then who the F cares, that's a really stupid move

Wait so the 4th year option means he played for our team for 3 years, allowing the bird provision right?

I'm not too concerned about T. Rob as I am with Leonard and CJ. Their contracts are pretty cheap honestly.

I don't think there are any bird rights because that 4th yr option was not exerciised, he is UFA next summer I believe

I can't even start to explain how dumb this move is.
I'm deeply disappointed with O'lshey for the first time and quite frankly, with many posters here in this forum, who proved IMO they simply don't know much about basketball or have just a very short memory.

T-Rob is worth much more than the MLE and we just lost one of the best young PFs in the game. Good luck with rooting for Meyers Leonard, though. Pathetic.

Correction: if we own his bird-rights than it isn't as important.
Anyway, letting T-Rob go is unacceptable IMO.

Putting the decision that was made aside I do have a little concern of this affecting chemistry.

So if TRob blows up, max we can offer him is a deal starting at 4.6mil per. But it can be for multiple years.

I don't think is big news at all.

hard to "blow up" when there and few to no minutes available for you, Philly is a good place for him
