"The Bruins and Sabres have held serious talks about winger Chris Stewart, but there doesn’t appear to be a match at this time. The Sabres were looking for two young players or a prospect and pick for Stewart. The Sabres won’t trade him unless they get what they want." (Friedman) "Stewart could potentially fill the role that former Bruins' forwards Nathan Horton and Jarome Iginla occupied before both were lost to free agency in separate seasons." (McKenzie) Been a lot of talk on here about the lack of size and toughness on this team. Stewart is a guy who can not only provide that, but has been a top 6 F before and is a good enough skater to contribute in AV's system. He was linked to us last deadline as a possible Callahan deal but I dont think that was ever a realistic option in that situation. We should make a push for him now. A team like Boston is interested for a reason. To top it off, he's a right shot. If a prospect and pick is enough to get it done, I'd give them anybody in the system other than Duclair. Nash-Stepan-MSL Kreider-Brassard-Zuccarello Hagelin-Hayes/Miller/Mueller-Stewart Glass/Malone-Moore-Stempniak That's a much more well-balanced team than we've seen thus far
Stewart has been hugely disappointing since his big year in '09-'10. No idea what happened, but he's not the same player. However, if the price is reasonable i'd be all for getting him. His right handedness, physicality and 35-45 pt production would be welcome on the 3rd line.
Andrew Ladd would be really helpful but I doubt Losipeg will deal him right now. I'd send them Miller, McIlrath and a 2nd.
