Westbrook probably cracked it flopping against us last night and fractured it against the clips tonight

They're a very weird team. They have talent and are pretty deep, I think it's honestly poor coaching.

I think even Rice had them at number 1 in the west and I don't see it

    Rice had GS number one.

Clippers are going to get a lot better through out the year mainly because they are well coached. Defensively they are going to be better. What you see now is not what you are going to see at the end. Doc's second year. They will be there when it counts.

What the hell does a small fracture mean?

OK I see now. It could be several weeks. But if similar to Rondo's injury....2-4 weeks

What would be scary is if these players miss so much time that it it leads to the Thunder being bad enough to land a top three pick in the draft.

They have enough talent on that team compared to some of the lower ranked teams in the league that they wouldn't suck enough to get into the high lottery, they would have to get lucky and win it. I doubt that they are even in the lottery, Durant misses 20 games Westbrook misses 15-20 once those guys are back then that team goes from a sub .500 back to a championship contender. They might lose the Northwest Division and fall out of home court but that would just mean they are favored vs whoever they play in the playoffs round 1.

    This.

Durant's already said that he's not rushing back from the injury:
Makes sense. He could afford to take all the time he needed to heal, making a conscious effort not to turn a small injury into a career-affector . Normally I'd totally agree, but in a West where a 48-win team went down to the wire last year and didn't make the playoffs, taking too long to start up the chase for a spot (by, say, having to start Telfair and PJ3 instead of Westbrook and Durant) could be skating on thin ice.

Bill Simmons on Grantland Basketball Hour (10/23/14): Cleveland goes 40-1 at home.

He and Barkley should run an all-jinx show.

Like it matters. The guy freezes out Durant, the MVP and 4 time scoring champ, in the 4th quarter of close games. You think he's going to hesitate to freeze out Perry Jones?

Re: "OFFICIAL" Around the NBA season Thread

Durant is the scoring champion because he shoots so much. The amount of times Westbrook freezes out KD is minimal. Plus Westbrook often is better suited to close out games because he can attack the rim better than Durant depending on the matchups. I see no tension between he and KD. Not for a few years.
IMO this knock on Westbrook is over blown.
