...yup, there's no GM in his right mind who is going to make his real intentions known to other GMs..

If Tanaka eventually goes down with arm surgery -the Yanks' rotation looks ordinary, but I don't think EVEN THE YANKS will be willing to hand out huge long term contracts to pitchers in consecutive seasons with possibility of one of them (Tanaka) being out for a year while rehabbing from surgery.

On the other hand...I believe there is some money coming off the books this season.....and they could -SHOULD- fill in other areas with a couple inexpensive young farm hands- Refsnyder...Pirela...Lindgren....who knows?

I think this Pirela kid can hit at the ML level....I know we've only seen a few Sept at bats-
-but there DOES seem to be that little something special thing about him.

I still and never have seen how D-Rob is worth 15 Mil......I just don't get it.....then again IMO Gardner is NOT worth 12 MIL either.

A team doesn't usually succed with 100% farm talent. Even the Bums of Garvey, Lopes, Cey, Russell, Yeager, Welch, Howe, Hershiser, Valenzuela, Stewart, had to rely on other acquistions to obtain players like Baker, Monday, and quit a few others, to shore up their team.

So a few FA's are usually necessary to complete a roster. Yet, I'd love to see the Yanx give more creedence to some of the better prospects they DO have waiting in the wings in Minor Lg ball.....Bring 'em on, and don't leave Bird Behind. He may be able to take over for Tex at any given moment, I hope? of course its a big jump from AA or AAA ball to the Big Show....just saying rely and develop Farm Talent, to its end, before giving up, and/or trading them....as has so often been the case, moreso in the 70s-80s, than in the past 24 years.

I will believe it when I see it. The Yankees need to sign McCarthy and another big pitcher. I prefer Lester. CC is a ? And Tanaka is a big risk and Pineda is a shoulder injury waiting to happen. They also need some more power. Hanley maybe at SS? No idea but they need to score more runs.

Please not the Red Sox. I'm hoping the Giants resign him.

No way Yanks don't at a minimum drive up the price on those 4.

Enter the Wall Street Period of Winter Meetings to come.

I literally don't see much difference in selling commodities on Wall street, than brokering a FA deal.....

Michael Douglas should be our new GM....Gordon, get me some coffee, and offshore accounts to launder my Yankee Billions....! (King George from his grave, bless his soul)....!
