Unless the Yankees can rid themselves of this joke before Spring Training I'm going to feel really bad for Joe G, his staff and players for the media circus they'll probably be an unwilling accomplice to.
...yeah, I'm hoping that the polite statements from Hal and Cash and Joe was simply pre-emptive posturing for fear of some sort of lawsuit from ARod if and when they try to cut ties with him. ...they can afford to pay him off but what they cannot afford is to let him back in the clubhouse.
Nice to see he finally grew a pair of balls, swelled as they be. Now if only Ortiz could follow suit.
I don't want to be right, I pray I'm not, but I can't help but shake the feeling that Arod will be playing in stripes next season. The Yanks will get what they can out of him since he's still getting a Yankee paycheck.
...after the Yanx weigh all the pros and cons, if he looks as bad in pre-season as I think he will, there's no way he'll make the team. They'd be better off paying him and not allowing him to play. ...remember, he's still got some bonus HR money coming and if the Yanx demonstrate beforehand that they don't want him back, ARod and his lawyers could claim that the Yanx only kept ARod from playing with hopes they would not have to pay him the bonus. I still believe that management is simply posturing by saying all the right things in the press, but privately, they are as fed up and disgusted and pissed off by this tool as we are.
Ron whats the breakdown on the bonus money? I'm thinking......................... 660 = $6M 714 = $6M 755 = $6M 762 = $5M Even if he plays the final 3 years on his contract he'll never reach the last 3 milestones.
...I can't remember the exact HR #s required for each bonus to kick in, but the dollar amounts look about right.
...found it; "If Rodriguez eventually takes the field either this season or in the future, he is six home runs shy of tying Hall of Famer Willie Mays. As part of that contract, Rodriguez would receive a $6 million bonus each time he reaches a milestone career home run total, beginning with 660 and followed by 714, 762 and 763. He currently has 654 home runs."
If he plays he'll catch Mays but to reach Ruth he needs 60 more & honestly I don't think there's 60 HRs left in his bat.
Honestly, I'm sick and tired of hearing about it. The use was widespread and players have served their suspensions. Time to move on.
...mess, I feel your pain, but you're gonna be sick and tired of it for awhile. ...this is a saga that is not going away anytime soon.
Well the DEA gave him immunity, but there may be CBA and contract language for further ban time. I'd like to see the Commish play the nuclear card and just issue a lifetime ban. I'd trade Pete Rose for ARod. Barabbas, Barabbas, Barabbas!
I.e. legal immunity (criminal or civil), right? I did see it written that he is is NOT subject to further MLB penalties...
...^^^ that is only for the specific offense of doing PEDS. "The Herald reported Bosch told the DEA that A-Rod agreed to pay for steroids for 20 Biogenesis customers after the clinic closed to keep Bosch from talking about his involvement. That could prompt MLB to investigate whether Rodriguez could be suspended again under the sport's drug agreement for violations related to the sale and distribution of PEDs, which are separate from the prohibitions on personal use."
