I was just pointing out that PA should probably send more scouts to Africa.

Yeah, not to walk on Sly's point, Africa is Big! But showing just the lower 48 doesn't really give the proper sense of the size of the US. From Cape Blanco on the south coast here (the furtherest point west in the 48) to the Eastern Maine boarder is about 2426 nautical miles, but the most western part of Alaska to the Maine board is damn near twice that far. From the western edge of Africa to the east of Oman, damn near to India

In looking at the width of Africa leads me to think that the hypotheses put forth in Guns Germs and Steel is some what suspect. Africa is just as accessible to take advantage of the combined east west orientation of Africa - Asia as is Europe - Asia. Didn't happen. But that is the reason why Europeans have been successful, according to Guns Germs and Steel's author, uber liberal Jared Diamond.

Though it doesn't really help Africa's case that most of the east/west area up north is a giant desert.

Just a guess, but I bet a majority of those people live within 100 miles of a coast.

The ones in Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia do. I forgot Libya in the list. Most of the People in Eygpt live along the Nile River.
Nearly half live in a country without a coast line.

    Libya 6,323,000

nowhere in your rambling, incoherent message did you resemble even the slightest mention of PA. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

What's with the Russia neglect? Africa is a whole continent - one country is 17000 square.
