I see you see clearly BU. I am not sure how we get enough to the point they also can see what the liberals have in store for us.

So, for those supporters of the ACA, are you really comfortable with the strategy used to pass it? Reconciliation. Hiding its real impact (higher taxes, wealth transfers, etc.). In other words, in your minds, do the ends of universal health insurance justify the means?

Luckily for me, I possess much of the same background and many of the same degrees as does Prof. Gruber. Therefore, I can look upon all you simpletons with the same disdain. Accept that people like me, Prof. Gruber and other members of the Administration are simply your betters. We know what's better for you than do you. Accept our rule and thank us for our wisdom.

No one is willing to answer this simple question?

Here's another one: What if a repeal of the ACA is passed on reconciliation? Is that legitimate?

Well, I'll answer you. I'd much rather the bill had been passed by a 'normal' method (the usual bribes, backroom deals, and inclusion of random pork-barrel spending) than the way it was passed.

As for the second question: yes, clearly.

Ha! I was at MIT for awhile. Took and econ class too, while I was there doing an engineering project. The engineering types at MIT were fine but the econ types were damn difficult for me to be around. One especially, one moment I thought, I'd like to hand that SOB the ball and play Free Safety! I guess I was lucky not to be down at Princeton where they have the Political Science types at the Woodrow Wilson School

The biggest difference between me and Prof. Gruber is that he is a saltwater economist, while I'm a freshwater one.

Uh oh! You are an econ? Oh well, no offence intended. I had to look up what the heck you were talking about with the Saltwater, sweetwater stuff. I get it, Berkeley, Harvard, Princeton, and so.

Some how I think it is more than that though, I think the type gravitate to the schools of their center of gravity.

Amazing. So many people on here support the ACA, yet they can't comment on whether or not they approve of the tactics used to pass it.

<----don't like the ACA, or how it happened, and wonder if I should be hoping for the karma of a R-controlled house and senate and (potentially) President in 2016 able to turn this country back to 1950 if they chose.

As an aside, with the tactics being as widely known. And the most famous of quotes being "You have to pass it to know what is in it." oboma was on the air saying that "the process was transparent and open" yet, still no outcry from the left wing press. I cant wait for some of the post election nastiness that are about to kick in..when the effect is felt by his followers, will they still be sheep?

Famous, and yet quoted inaccurately and out of context here.

What 'post election nastiness' are you expecting?

It seems the veto proof do nothing congress did nothing when it came to reading the bill before voting on it. Even then, they didn't actually vote on the bill that became law.

The quote may be only a little out of context. Most of congress, as well as the people, had not idea the extent we are all being screwed. Pass the vasoline.

Then your attention to detail is dangerously lacking for someone building a ocean-going boat.

Pelosi says in the video: "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it"

DaLincolnJones says: "You have to pass it to know what is in it."

That is not an accurate quote.

There are multiple differences there, beyond just the obvious. First of all, there's a period in DaLincolnJones' version - that wasn't actually the end of Pelosi's sentence, but of course it doesn't sound as bad if you include the entire sentence (much less the context of the speech).

Secondly, the difference between "You have to pass it" and "We have to pass it". The fact is, Pelosi wasn't speaking to her fellow house members, urging them to pass the bill without reading it. She was speaking to an outside group, saying that Congress had to pass it before others were going to find out what was really in it (because, she was implying, the actual contents of the bill were being obscured by the controversy).

Here's the full sentence with slightly more context.

Sigh! As obnoxious as Gruber is, he was correct with some of his observations.
