I was at a Restaurant/Bar during the game and when Kobe made that block almost everyone at the bar went "OOHHH!" haha it was awesome. Too bad they couldn't close the game out.

This is what I mean when I say Kobe plays for stats. He could've easily dove for the ball, instead he stands around and then chases Deron william to get a block. You don't see diving for balls in stats, but you do see blocks.

He was doing the right thing by playing the passing lanes and waiting for the fast break. He then redeemed himself and got the big block.
