I'll just list 5 to keep the the topic going..1) Zach Randolph-This season's stats: 25.6 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 49 fg%Last year's stats: 18 ppg, 8 rpg, 43 fg%2) Carlos Boozer-This season's stats: 21.9 ppg, 12.7 rpg, 57 fg%Last year's stats: 16.3 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 55 fg%3) Monta Ellis-This season's stats: 17.6 ppg, 4.7 apg, 1.2 spg, 48 fg%Last season's stats: 6.8 ppg, 1.6 apg, .6 spg, 41 fg%4) JR Smith-This season's stats: 17.5 ppg, 1.2 spg, 46 fg%, 39 3pt%Last season's stats: 7.7 ppg, .7 spg, 39 fg%, 37 3pt%5) Emeka Okafor-This season's stats: 18.8 ppg, 12 rpg, 3.4 bpg, 55 fg%Last season's stats: 13.2 ppg, 10 rpg, 1.9 bpg, 41 fg%6) Kevin Martin-This season's stats: 24.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.6 spg, 54 fg%Last season's stats: 10.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, .8 spg, 48 fg%Kevin Martin has my vote. Unbelievable :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:
I wouldn't be shocked to see any of those players win it over the seemingly top player. Monta Eliis is doing amazingly well though. Just thought I'd add that.
Zach Randolph already won the Most Improved player award in 2004, I don't see him winning it again. My vote goes to Kevin Martin he has been amazing this season. He just had back to back games of 27 and 30 points. He has impressed me in the clutch as well. He has hit numerous clutch shots already this season.
Like I've said before Kevin Martin and Monta Ellis have been two of my fav. young players in the league. I would've never expected them to do what they've done, but both have become LEGIT big time scorers for there teams. I think it's a toss up between KMart and Monta, it could be decided on who has the better team at the end of the season...I doubt Boozer will keep up the great stats, but Zach Randolph should keep up his stats for the most part, I could see him having a drop off towards the 2nd half of the season..Tremendous numbers by all 6 guys you listed though..
Right now it's a tie between Monta Ellis, Kevin Martin, and JR Smith for me. Although it is nice to see Zach Randolph improving his fg% to almost 50%.
Andrew Bynum and Kevin Martin are my favorites. Both are helping their teams win... which is a big part of showing you have improved.
Try Andris Biedrins. He's averaging a double double in 25 mins a game, first in the league in field goal percentage, and he's 3rd in the league in blocks.
I'd go with Martin. He's accepted a much bigger role on the team and taken it and ran. He's turning into a very good scorer and a dependable player for the Knicks.

I am unfortunatley going to have to side with everybody else and say kevin martin. Going up nearly 15 points between seasons is flat out ridicoulous. He is averaging nearly 25 PPG....NOBODY expected that out of him. Monta Ellis is easily #2 for me. He is helping his team win alot of ball games, and so far in the season, he had back to back 30 point games. That is crazy...
It has to be JR Smith or Kevin Martin. Ellis is worth mentioning, but he won't win it because he's only a sophomore. I think Kevin Martin gets it because he's playing with a lot more efficiency.
A lot of candidates. A LOT. In no order:- Kevin Martin- Leandro Barbosa- Hakim Warrick- Monta Ellis- Andrew Bynum- Andris Biedrins- Deron WilliamsBut a couple unmentioned ones:- How about Tyronn Lue? 15 points, 4-5 assists on solid percentages off the bench for ATL. He has played well.- Jarrett Jack. He's putting up 12/3/6 and Portland has been doing better than expected.- How has nobody mentioned Luke Walton? Last year he averaged 5/3/2 off the bench, this year he's starting and he's putting up 13/5/3 with 52% FG. Stats aside from this guy, I don't care, his intangibles are huge.
WOW, I cant believe that we all forgot about Deron Williams. He has been playing incredible this year and his assists are up to about 9 a game. That is a crazy jump, and his team is doing amazing.Walton has been doing great as well....I forgot about him.
But yall are forgetting to look at how much they have improved. Going from 4ppg to 15ppg is more impressive than going from 10ppg to 18ppg.
I think the thing about Monta's improvement as opposed to K-mart's is that K-Mart has become a jumpshooter but not a leader. Monta Ellis has becomed a clutch leader type and his stats under rate him. However I think for now K-mart's the easy choice, but I have a feeling that monta will be averaging 20 pts and 6 assts by the end of the season, then it'll be a different story.

Stop being a homer. 10 and 10 wont win you MIP in this league.

He is having a better season than Andrew Bynum yet you show no objecion for him being in the consideration. But for whoever said Monta Ellis will be up to 20 and 6 by the end of the season, that is not going to happen. J Rich isnt play too great right now, and once he starts getting back to his old game, he will be playing more minutes, his stats will go up, therefor, Ellis' will go down. Also, not alot of players can raise their stats THAT much once the season has already started. He would have to get over 22 and 8 a night for a long time to do so. And he isnt there yet...
