I just do not see Portland playing 2 starters that are not long distance shooters. We have seen that MyLe was started instead of T-Rob when LMA was sick. Having Rondo and RoLo in the same starting line is going to require a big adjustment for the offensive game. I just do not see Portland being interested.

I think Blazers4ever is suggesting the following starting lineup after the trade:
    5 - Rolo
    4 - LA
    3 - Wes
    2 - Dame
    1 - Rondo

Personally, I believe we should have 3 players (proficient in 3-pt shooting) on the floor at all times with Stotts' offensive system.

The Rondo trade would remove that from our current starting core.

This reminds me, last night I was watching the Denver -OKC game and at one point Denver's offense looked ugly and I looked at who they had on the floor and it included some good players. But with two players who can't shoot a open shot beyond 8 feet (Faried and Mozgov) they really struggled. Now they did clean up on the boards, but it reminded me of our bad run with Gerald Wallace. You really do need 4 players on the court who can keep the defense honest.
Terry has a good recipe for success IMO

You're giving up a lot of size in such a deal. The Blazers will never go anywhere meaningful with a undersized starting two and three. And that's what Rondo or Dame and Wes would be.

First off I hate the idea of any in season trade that sends out a starter. Even if we upgrade the talent there is no time to build the familiarity necessary to win in the postseason. There hasn't been an NBA champion who added a major starter during the season since we sent Clyde to the Rockets 20 years ago. And those Rockets were an abnormal case already being the defending champs. Any major roster changes need to happen in the offseason.

Secondly I think this trade proposal is a bad idea because Lillard and Aldridge need players who compliment them, outside shooting is critical from their teammates and Rondo is terrible at that. Nic is a great outside shooter. The defense would be able to cheat on Lillard & Aldridge pick and roles so we could no longer use those.

Rondo needs the ball in his hands to be effective and that removes the ball from Aldridge and Lillard.

Rondo can walk as a free agent in a few months. If Rondo didn't fit with the team this trade could hurt our chance of resigning LaMarcus which currently is more of a lock. So much potential downside to this trade and little upside. I'd love to add Rondo's talent in a vacuum but this isn't fantasy basketball where the only thing that matters is stats.

Thanks for saying what I was too lazy to. Plus we'd be too short. Plus chemistry. Etc. Etc. Etc.
