It's hard to part with Wes... I know it's a no brainier, but Wes is one of my favorites

We could keep Wes and let Batum walk. Gotta keep the Marquette brothers together!

For who then? Throw a couple of ideas out there for Wes, Nic or both so we can get a better idea of what mean.

Butler is such a flavor of the month guy. He is honestly just another ariza, it's a contract year so of course he is balling out but his career numbers aren't that great.

Is Jason Kidd still retired? Maybe Jason Collins?

I'd trade wes or Nic to Orlando for tobias Harris and their 1st round pick

But my preference would be to stay with our core.

Why the constant desire to blow up a team that's already extremely good and getting better? Have you learned NOTHING from the Spurs and other champions? Championship teams need to GROW together. Constant thrashing of players and coaches leads to mediocrity - at best. We won 54 games last season and made it to the second round. Our starters were the best starting unit in the league last year. By adding Kaman and Blake, Olshey addressed our biggest roster weaknesses. The coaching staff and players have addressed out other biggest weakness - defense. Why are you so eager to fuck up a good thing with nonsensical trades that will do nothing but destroy chemistry and continuity?

I have no idea how old you are or how long you've been following the team, but you would have LOVED Bob Whitsitt. He built a championship team here in Portland back in 1999-2000. The problem was, he wasn't satisfied and blew that team up before they ever had a chance to win that championship. Because he panicked, we went from being within minutes of making the finals in 2000 to getting swept in the first round in 2001. That 2000 team was the perfect mix of youth and experience, stars and role players. But he couldn't see that. He traded away our youth and role players for more big names. The result was a lot of jealousy, bickering and in-fighting over minutes and roles. We went from being a team to being a roster full of individuals with competing agendas. His lack of understanding of continuity and chemistry destroyed what he'd built and took this organization 14 years to recover from. Remember that the next time you're eager to make a trade just to make a trade.

The pieces we have fit extremely well together. Don't fuck it up.

I agree. It feels good to have a stable starting lineup and good backups. Change nothing. Re-sign everyone next summer.

MAYBE trade TRob and or CJ for Gerald Green and sign Ray Allen but that's it.

That might be enough. Most of their "power" forwards are really just stretch fours.

i am fine standing pat... bringing in a backup sf would be my only thing. which is funny since the first dumb trade was to get rid of the starting one.

Well said! I completely agree, especially with the Trader Bob comment. The revolving door for rosters and coaches doesn't work...Lakers, prime example.

Well, that's not entirely true. Bob didn't get impatient and blow it up.

Brian Grant wanted a massive contract. The Miami Heat were willing to give it to him. We were not. Bob orchestrated a trade that sent Grant to Miami and Shawn Kemp to Portland from Cleveland. He hoped that Kemp could regain his form. He did not.

Jermaine demanded a trade. He was tired of sitting on the bench behind Sheed/Sabas/Grant. Bob sent him to Indy for Dale Davis, who was fresh off an All-Star appearance.

I don't think he made trades for the sake of making trades. I think he tried to get the most out of a couple of bad situations and they didn't work out.

As much as I LOVED the offensive style with Aldridge out, I know we aren't going to trade him (unfortunately).
So in lieu of changing our style for the better, by moving out Aldridge, We need to make a consolidation trade IMO.

I'm not sure who we go after, but they need to be a creater/scorer. I don't think CJ is going to be that guy. Packaging Wes/Batum and anyone on the bench not named Kaman or Crabbe, would net us the best return.
