Shanahan announced that Cutler will start the rest of the season, your thoughts?I am scared, but at the same time relieved. He finally got off Plummers dick and decided tot take a chance, but Cutler has a good chance of doing horrible. Yes he is a good quarterback and he will most likely be a great, but our deteriorating O-line could be bad news for Cutler. He is not as mobile and unless the line steps up he is either gonna be taking some hits or having to make some bad passes.

I honestly think he's making a HUGE mistake. Plummer played GREAT last year and played relatively good this year. Is it his fault that he has NO RUNNING GAME or that the defense has been playing horrible the last few weeks? When there isnt a running game, only a few QB's can still make plays. Plummer needs that running game to be useful. On saying that, he has a better shot than Cutler does. I'm still not sold on Cutler, but now I believe he's being fed to the wolves. Bad move by the Broncos. I almost Garuntee they finish behind both the Chargers and the Chiefs.

Also, he has had maybe two good games this year, and the rest have been sh*t. His running game is bad because Tatum Bell is injured and Mike Bell cannot carry the load. When Tatum was doing fine he was still fairing horrible against pass defenses.

I still don't see where a majority of the blame is on Plummer. Most of the time he did just enough to get a win while his defense gave up a ton of points. Broncos have lost only 4 games. One to a great Indy team by 3, and then by a TD to a high powered San Diego offense. Then two others to STL and KC. I understand where your saying that he hasnt been the best, but I'd still rather have an experienced player at QB than a rookie QB. If Shanahan thinks this is going to spark his team like a QB change did to Dallas, he's mistaken. Romo was a 4th year player who has learned 4 years under Parcells while Cutler is a rookie. Just look at the other rookie QB's that have started this year. Vince Young, Leinhart, Bruce Blah-Blah(Bucs QB), and Andrew Walter. Granted they have played on sub .500 teams, they still havent produced that great and have made a ton of mistakes. Just don't think they'll do good. They have Seattle and San Diego still to play. Teams that can wreck a rookie QB. Even Arizona, San Fran, and Cincy aren't pushovers on defense. I just dont see Cutler pulling a Rothlesburger.

The big negative with having your zone blocking scheme is having a smaller and more technical offensive line...and in a zone blocking scheme you need a mobile QB because you generally don't have the big bruisers there and that keep blocks longer. Cutler isn't that mobile and it could cause some problems. Shanahan wouldn't make the move unless he was comfortable with Cutler (who I think was the best QB in the 2006 draft). I don't agree with the change, sure Plummer's been playing poorly but Denver's been dissapointing in other aspects of the game...everyone blames the QB...

Plummer is total crap. I've never liked him. I think Cutler will do well, and I think Leinart(and maybe Vince Young) are better, but Cutler should be decent enough to help this team win some games.

The way I'm looking at it is that Plummer hasn't done anything all year so why not take a chance on Cutler. It isn't like Shanahan never takes chances [IMG] he is always leading the league in challenges and most of the time winning them.

Sorry about my post further up...after reading a bit more into Cutler he does have adequate speed.

Yeah, he is about as mobile as Elway was and in Denver it is a horrible place to be a quarterback because everybody wants the next Elway. Cutler could do that, I'm not saying he will, but hey (like the little black kid in Angels in the Outfield) "it could happen" [IMG]
