<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Doesn't seem like the Nuggets miss K-Mart at all, do they? Don't forget they're also without Nene. Marcus Camby and Reggie Evans have a great impact defensively and with rebounding. So now they don't have K-Mart's offensive explosiveness, but that's where J.R. has helped make them better. And Carmelo's now the game's best pure scorer -- his ability to play out of double teams, get teammates involved -- that has been fun to watch. The sky's the limit. Karl told me that Anthony is the best pure scorer he's ever coached. And that scoring is coming within the framework of helping his team.</div>Here's the rest of the articleI think that's ridiculous. Sure, he's leading the league in ppg so far, but that's after only 12-13 games. Surely AI, Lebron, Wade, Tmac, and Kobe are better scorers...Thoughts?Greg Anthony is now an idiot in my books..
Isn't Greg Anthony related to Carmelo? I believe they are 2nd cousins or Carmelo is his nephew or something like that. I think Melo is a good scorer, but come on, the best in the league as of right now?Hell no in my books. I'd have to say that Carmelo is more top ten material. Kobe is the best scorer in the league hands down. He can shoot from anywhere and drive by anyone. Just the best hands down. Now I do think that you could argue that he is a better scorer than D-Wade, but I'd still give the thumbs up to T-Mac and AI over Melo. Even Dirk in my opinion is better. Might say I'm homerish on this, but he is. I'd say Paul Pierce is even a better scorer. Here would be my list on the the sheer ability for putting the ball in the basket when fully healthy. 1.Kobe2.T-Mac3.Iverson4.LeBron5.Dirk6.Pierce7.Melo8.D-Wade9.Arenas10.Ray Allen/Michael Redd

There are a handful of guys who are better scorers than Melo. The ppg through 13 games doesn't mean much to me. And plus, Iverson is about to be the ppg leader soon. He's on Melo's tail.
Anthony said that because Melo has the full package on offense. He is 6'8'', very strong, quick, athletic, has a nice mid-range shot, good out of the triple-threat, probably the best post-up SF in the league, catches lobs, hits 3's. I mean he can do it all.You guys are making this out to be worse than it really is.

Come on now, thats pretty out there. Kobe didn't even average 30 two years ago, and that 80 point game was ridicilous this past year and boosted his average. And he's 15th I think it is in the league right now.If you wanna go and say who the best scorer is, you have to look at what people are doing when there healthy. And TMac hasn't been completely healthy in almost two years. From my personal observations, at 100% compared to everyone else's 100%...he's the best scorer in the league. My number two might be AI. Maybe because Im a Philly fan, but the things he does on a court just shouldn't be done by someone graciously listed at 6'.</span>
I would say that Carmelo Anthony is atleast top three pure scorers in the league, right there with Bryant and Tracy Mcgrady, and I think he is the smoothest scorer in the league. His game is so smooth, I love to watch him play, it looks almost effortless when he is on the court. He is definately ahead of Lebron James and Dwayne Wade, when it comes to scoring. They are better all around players than Melo, but he is a better scorer. He has a nice shot on him, can take the ball to the rim, as celticballa said, he is the best post up small forward in the league. I really don't think it's crazy at all to say that Carmelo is the best scorer in the league, a legitimate case can be maade for him.
Kobe might just be the purest scorer in the game. The question is who is the best pure not just the best. I know he is having a down year a little so far in average but he was injured earlier in the season. He may just have the best scoring combination on that list, in that he can shoot the 3 and play in the post and get to the lane. I can understand the case for Melo though. He is a very smooth and pure scorer as stated earlier but we are not even 15 games into the season which is why he is not #1 in my mind. If he keeps it up throughout the year, thats a different story. Right now, however, I say Kobe and than T Mac (healthy) only because these guys have been doing it for years
It's funny how Carmelo is leading the league in scoring, Averaged 27 ppg last season shooting 48% and people still have him at the bottom of their top ten scoring lists.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Anthony said that because Melo has the full package on offense. He works for ESPN so we know he isn't the brightest person out there, he is a homer of himself. He takes a stand on any given topic and refuses to accept other viewpoints that do not agree with his beliefs/opinions. With him it is either a love affair with someone like Lebron/Anthony or a hate fest for others such as the Suns.I've never understood why he dislikes the Suns so much. From the role he played in the Knicks/Suns brawl back in '93 to the cheapshots he would continually take in the years following when he could not stop Kevin Johnson from getting to the basket. Now it is all about how Amare is going to ruin team chemistry, Nash not being the best PG in the league simply because Chris Paul "is younger and has more potential" and how (insert team here) will beat the Suns in each and every round the play in the postseason anyways... :focus:
Why isn't Carmelo Anthony the best pure scorer in the league? Sure guys like LeBron and Kobe are generally viewed as 'better'. People aren't giving Carmelo Anthony his due at all. I've watched Anthony a couple times on TV this year, he does a lot on offense. It might not be the best athlete but he's damn smart and finds ways. His outside shooting has been lackluster but his shot selection and efficiency shooting the ball has improved a lot since he came into the league.
Melo can post up. dunk, hit the elbow with a hand in his face, hit the three. Hes extremely pure, and I would say Kobe is a better scorer, but with his surgery and all, Melo is better than him right now. No matter how much people wanna say, Melo has a better post game the Lebron.

He can do everything offensively, his passing better lately, can drive, hit midrange, drive, post up. His game is smooth.

What's this bs that if you live in australia you cant watch games. Dude, do you know how many nba games are streamed over net?
Maybe as good as some. But its 13 or so gaqmes into the season. Since when does that prove anyone's credentials? I have seens Melo play I DL alot of games. I think he is very good but not the best. I cant see him as someone who could go off for 50 on any given night. (yes I know he put up 45 v philly last year.) But I cant see him doing that again and again. Like Iverson or Kobe.

Dude, do you know how many nba games are streamed over net?</div>yeah, but not everybody is gonna take forty-eight hours of downloading to watch a game that they already know the result of. I mean, a game has to be pretty damned impressive to be enjoyable when you already know what's gonna happen. And a lot of NBA games are on the net, a lot aren't. Unless you want to buy them on google video (which adds up quickly) then it's likely a long process of waiting, searching, downloading, and buffering for torrents.
