Ending a saga that has continued throughout this season, the Cowboys waived former Colts kicker Vanderjagt and signed former Colts kicker Martin Gramatica, who spent three games with Indianapolis earlier this season. The move turned out to be a costly experiment for the Cowboys. They gave Vanderjagt a $2.5 million signing bonus this offseason, but he struggled on field goals, kickoffs and was a constant source of consternation for Cowboys coach Bill Parcells. The Cowboys began making calls on other kickers at least two weeks ago, inquiring into the availability of such players as former Dallas kicker Billy Cundiff. But the team opted to go with Gramatica, who has connected on 138 of 180 field goals during his NFL career. And just as the Cowboys made a headline-grabbing move at quarterback, they now have done the same at kicker.</div>http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9832312
Re: Cowboy's cut "idiot kicker" Yeah, I don't know what the deal is. Vanderjagt is supposed to be one of the most accurate of all time. Cowboys kickers just suck big time.Gramatica is a solid pickup though, hopefully he'll play up to his potential.
Re: Cowboy's cut "idiot kicker" Vanderjagt just wasn't the same after he missed that kick in last year's playoff game against Pittsburgh. You could tell he had no confidence out there this season, and Dallas is better off without him...
Re: Cowboy's cut "idiot kicker" Im glad Vangerjaskfndsdfnfjkd is gone. He was missing so much sh*t. Lost us 1 game. Lost us a couple games in pre-season, I know it doesn't matter, but still. Lets hope Gramatica follows through
Re: Cowboy's cut "idiot kicker" Wow, what a waste of money. Amazing what a little lack of confidence can do to a kicker.
Re: Cowboy's cut "idiot kicker" Awesome. Screw this guy. He ruined my Colts. He's a bad kicker who has mental issues.

Re: Cowboy's cut "idiot kicker" Yeah, I don't know why so many people here in Indy can't stand him.He was a great kicker for us. The most accurate in NFL history with us. Sure he missed a field goal in the playoffs. We were destined to lose anyway in that game though, we played horribly, it wasn't just Vanderjact's fault.I wish him the best of luck as he tries to find a new team.

Sure he missed that kick, and that was his job was to make that kick, but everyone messes up. However, The Colts were a better football team than the Steelers, and should have never been in that situation for Vanderjagt to miss that kick. The line didn't block for crap, the offense wasn't moving the chains well until the second half. This should have been blamed on the entire team, not just the kicker.
