He finally saw his first action and scored his first basket last saturday against ATLI can't say that I really missed him b/c we were bombarded with nothing with J.J. while he was in college. And besides, he has no problem keeping a low profile in Orlando... for now, that is.
I see where you're going with this, but I think he could rise higher than a Steve Kerr status. He should definitely score more (He is the ACC's all-time leading scorer).
I don't understand what the thread is asking, do I miss him? Do I miss the type of numbers he put up a night or what?To add to the topic though, I personally think Reddick will go under the radar and then resurface in a couple of seasons into a good supporting starter.
I should've worded it betterBut I was just wondering if anyone was suprised that he has taken so long so surface or make an impact on the rookie scene. All we've been hearing about has been Gay, Morrison, Foye, and Roy (among others, and they deserve it).
Well I definitely miss him, he was my favorite player in college for the past 2 years. And now that he starts to play, my League Pass f*cks up? League Pass has beeen working perfectly even though I didn't pay for it, but about 3 days ago cable went out because of rain and now league Pass won't work.
I don't think jj will be anything spectacular. he's a great shooter but if he can't hit his jumper than he can't help the team. remember how LSU shut him down in the ncaa's? he's not a very good defender either. I agree with koopa, he's gonna be nothing more than a steve kerr.
That definitely sounds like a personal problem, but I feel your pain ElMaster. My 200th post!!
Oh boy, more senseless J.J. Redick bashing. Nobody gets bashed more for his faults than J.J. Redick. You bring up J.J. Redick and it's always what he can't do and what his limitations are. He's just a white boy who can do nothing except shoot the basketball...he's the next Steve Kerr. Give me a damn break. Sure he got shutdown in one game in the NCAA tournament but what does that matter? In college he was the man, the guy who got the ball, in the NBA he won't be double teamed or given half the attention he got in college. He's the perfect role player. Instead of telling you all the stereotypical things that J.J. Redick can't do, I'll do the opposite and tell you what he can do. He's a legit 6'5" 195 pounds. Not an ounce of fat on him. He's always in perfect condition. He has an amazing jumpshot with a perfect and fast release. He can hit shots from 5 feet behind the three-point line and has a great mid-range game that he worked hard on in college. He's smart offensively and uses fakes well to get shots...he's quicker than people give him credit for...He played great defense his senior year and Coach K often commented on it. I watched Redick half a dozen times last year and he was a damn good/pesky defender...he might not have long arms and won't wrap you up but he's better than you think. People harp on him because he can't create his own shot, big freaking deal...look at the NBA rules, he will be effective because he can shoot the ball and with defensive rules will have an advantage. I miss him, the guy plays hard and with heart. I can't wait until he finds his place with the Magic.
he'll get eatin up on defense.......and for that he'll be to much of a liability on the court, I think you just want a white boy to succeed which is why you are way overhyping him with that post

I'm just gonna go on record that I didn't put this up here for bashing puproses, you can tell in my posts. He's gonna be a threat. If not now, wait until later on in the year and playoff time.

If Kyle Korver can make it in the NBA...J.J. Redick will do fine. Redick is a lot better than you think he is and like you many others only bring up his faults while forgetting what made him one of the greatest ACC players ever.... :no1:
take it easy bcb. you seem a little too defensive about jj. I know he's a great shooter, there's no question about that. I'm a huge duke fan and I watched every game I could. I don't dislike the guy but he can't drive to the basket. he's a pure shooter and that's really it.
QUOTE (BrewCityBuck @ Nov 27 2006, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You never know what your talking about...If it's in the NBA or NFL board, you always have little smart-ass comments with nothing to back up your opinions. Thats what he is, thats what he excells at. He can shoot from anywhere on the court and defenses will always have to keep an eye on him. I know he's not going to be a guy that gets to the FT line a lot. The guy is going to be a lights out shooter, he going to give you everything he has every game and he will work hard on defense. I see nothing wrong with that at all.

You're just goin off now. If anybody should be defending the man it should be me. He does play on my team. We realize that he has talent (above steve kerr level for sure). Just let them realize when he does get some PT.

He's had injury problems. I wouldn't make a big deal over him until after the all-star break. I think he could be getting more regular minutes then as he figures things out. The injury was very unfortunante.
QUOTE (nykfan4life @ Nov 28 2006, 12:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

you're not gonna excell in the nba as a lights out shooter. ray allen is a lights out shooter but he can take the ball to the basket. if you're one dimensional like reddick you're an easy person to guard. he's a great shooter but defenses are gonna catch up on that quickly and he's going to need to learn how to take it the hole.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. It's not like I'm expecting Redick to be a #1 option and average 20ppg. I think he's going to be a damn good role player, borderline starter maybe. Jeff Hornacek was 6'4" 190 pounds with Utah...he couldn't get to the basket and was a great starter next to John Stockton for years and years...he was a lightsout shooter and averaged 16 points or so. Thats what I expect out of Redick.
