Toyota has confirmed another sizeable round of vehicle recalls, this time affecting 30,000 Sienna Minivans – 25,000 of which are located in North America. According to the statement released by the automaker, the fault concerns the overhead assist grips of certain models manufactured for the 2015 model year. All drivers in possession of Sienna vehicles covered by the latest recall are to be contacted directly by Toyota, at which point they’ll be asked to visit a local dealership for a free minor repair. The newest Toyota recall is comparatively unserious in nature and has been issued wholly voluntarily. The automaker spoke of the potential for the left and right overhead assist grips to come loose or break away from their mounts “under some conditions” during airbag deployment. Should this occur at the time of a collision, the grips could be launched at high speed in the direction of the car’s passengers and cause injury.
