He's one of the few black athletes that cares about the arts, or other things going around in the world. Not to be racist or anything, but it's the truth. Look at his writing in this article about what I was just talking about..http://slamonline.com/online/2006/11/type-casting/Sort of a breath of fresh air for me..

Wow... it is just shocking to me that a referee would make that kind of a comment in a game, let alone make it in the first place. I've known for a while now that Etan Thomas was a smart guy, etc., but he is a really good writer as well. I think I'll be reading his piece every week...Nice find CB4.

Also, it is nice to see that some players in the NBA are actually very intelligent and interested in the arts like CB4 said.

Ray Allen is big into art work and I know he buys a lot of it and visits galleries...etc...

How was that comment racist? Stereotypical, maybe..but not racist. It's true though, not many blacks in the NBA are into this kind of stuff.

I knew he did poetry already. I didn't read the article, but correct me if I am wrong doesn't he play guitar? In a Wizards game on TNT last year they were talking about him and what he does outside of basketball, it was pretty fascinating.

Your comment was stupid...I don't know many white poet's in the NBA or white's that follow politics (besides Mark Pope). It's just something white people blurt out...like when a black college kid is on the radio and he sounds intelligent...I've heard it a dozen times where the radio guy comments on how the kid seems smart...etc...like all black kids are stupid blithering idiots...(It was Jim Mora and Dan Moriariti on Fox and JT The Brick on Fox that I remember saying something to the effect).
