It's on the front page of Hoopshype -- His agent wants him on another NBA team rather than a return to Europe but would return there if Neil can't find a taker. Memphis is a spot I'd look at as Victor is close friends with their soon-to-be UFA Marc Gasol -- Claver for Stokes, anyone? *wants (mods?)
What can we get for a package of TRob/Vic/DWright? That's about $10mil of salary for not much production, but it's all expiring.
We can alter the package with one of CJ or our pick to improve the return, otherwise, I'd say primarily overpriced junk is what we could expect.
WTF is it with these Spaniards? First Sergio, then Rudy and now Vic. Whiny little bitches. You want to play more? Play better. Problem solved. It took Sergio being forced back to Europe to FINALLY work on improving his shot. The guy was a turnover machine who couldn't shoot to save his life and didn't play a lick of defense. His NBA career peaked two months into his rookie year with that 23 point 10 assist game in Denver. Once teams quickly realized he couldn't shoot, they simply backed off, played the passing lanes and dared him to shoot. NBA career == over! Rudy also peaked during his rookie year. With Roy's knees crumbling, he got PLENTY of opportunities to show he had NBA level talent, but failed EVERY time - all the while whining and complaining. And now this. Hey Vic, when you're the 15th man on a 1st place team, you don't get to DEMAND a trade. Wanna play? Learn to make a fucking wide open shot. Yeah, you'll get your wish. You'll be gone, but not on your terms. You have ZERO leverage in this situation. We, obviously, don't need you. So, you'll either be traded, when and where Olshey wants, or you'll be waived so you can take your whining and piss poor shooting elsewhere. BNM
I do. When you're the 15th man on a 1st place team, you don't get to be a distraction by publicly demanding a trade. You either need to work your ass off to EARN playing time, or you quietly ask for a trade behind closed doors. Making demands through the press, even if it's your agent doing the talking (he works for you, not the other way around), is absolute bullshit. BNM
To be fair to Rudy, that Ariza foul really seemed to hamper his play drastically. The only thing of his game that stayed in top form was the whining. But - he might have done it if that foul did not happen.
your.worst.post.ever. You want Vic to "Learn to make a fucking wide open shot"? How about the rest of the team to learn to play "fucking" position defense? Worst players than him are playing in front of him, and he's seen it for years now. If he's not being played because other players fit the system better (i.e. they shoot better), than just trade him. What have they been waiting for?
I think Vic is head and shoulders better than Wright at every facet of the game (Wright is a "shooter" who can't .... shoot). Vic's problem is his shooting. He's a good defender, and makes smart plays, but his offensive game (from what we saw last year) is trash. There's a spot in the regular rotation for him if he could get a decent jumper. Edit: and let's be honest here. Do you guys really think Vic's agent asking out will affect team chemistry?
I do agree that a player has opportunity to get playing time with effort. Claver should look to Crabbe and see that Stotts will give playing time to those players that can play within his system. Obviously something Claver is doing doesn't impress Stotts enough to give him burn. Instead of whining about it to the media, maybe he should look on himself of things he must accomplish to get burn
Might be a bit mental with him as well. Apparently, like Babbitt for us a couple years ago, the guy shoots lights out in practice but can't make much in the games.
I expect TRob's agent to leak similar stuff soon. That's slightly more concerning to me than this news: 1) because I think he can be developed into a legit contributor that I don't want another team to get for cheap, and 2) I think his mindset on the bench and in practice might affect chemistry a bit more.
Even though Claver doesn't play much I bet Stotts has 8 different plays using him to score with a few seconds left on the clock.
I've made it no secret that I'm a fan of Claver's game. I wish him the best and also think he's better than some guys playing ahead of him. Stotts obviously doesn't see a fit in the rotation so he should shop his game to a team that he could get playing time with. He'd be playing on any number of lottery teams.
