Ben Wallace comes to the Palace February 25th (Sunday). This game is a game that we Piston fans are anxious for - obviously because it will mark the return of our former "face of the franchise" - Ben Wallace. I am interested to see how the crowd will react to Ben - will they be cheering/applauding for Ben? That's showing appreciation and thanks for his services...or they will boo. That being for obvious reasons.1. What do you think will happen? Boo / Cheer / Mixed?2. What would you do?I personally would cheer - I'd have a huge sign just saying THANKS BEN - wearing a fro - and a Ben Wallace jersey. He left for his reasons - he felt it was right for him as a player, and for his family financially. You would do the same.
I would cheer, but I feel that he will be booed. He chose money over the team who helped him make a name for himself and for that, that's why he'll be booed.
You cheer him during introductions ONE TIME..the FIRST time he comes back. And then you let go. And then he becomes just another player, and will be booed like the rest of them.
It's sad, because they will boo him. The fans will boo, but they need to take a step into reality and realize that they would not have a ring right now if it wasn't for Ben Wallace. They'll boo anyway, say "ahh, we don't need him" and act like a biased fan. They know deep down they miss the hell out of him.
I think it will be a mixed reaction. There are going to be fans that realize and appreciate what Ben Wallace did for the franchise, and that he made the decision that, in his opinion, was best for him. Then there will be those fans that will be bitter about him leaving, and boo the hell out of him.I think Combs said it perfectly. They should cheer him during the player introductions, but once the game starts he will be treated like any other visiting player.
He deserves and will get a nice long standing ovation during his introduction. He deserves and will get the crap booed out of him every time he touches the ball.
I will give him a standing ovation the first time he returns, after that I am not sure what my actions towards him would be.

I think he'll get a mixed reaction, but I personally would cheer for him.if he acknowledges fans, if they cheer him, I think the game would go well as far as cheering for him, if not, it will be the complete opposite
Well aside from the fact that it's sad that you're talking about this when there's over 3 months until it happens, he'll be booed. I guaranshee it. With the manner in which he left, the fans won't forgive him.

But I have a feeling he will be booed by fans who just look at him like he did nothing for this franchise.
I'm trying to get tickets to that game for my wife and me. I think he will be booed, although he was always my favorite player (on the current championship Pistons team)... it's going to be hard not to boo him, since he chose money over loyalty...But, the Pistons should run a "Ben Wallace headband" promotion that day... have all the Pistons players, the announcers, and all the fans wear headbands during the game (just a little jab over all his trouble last week with the Bulls). lol.

Awesome. If you need anything send me a PM. I know these boards are a lot different than the ESPN boards, It's easy to get confused.
Personally I respect Ben for what he did here and without him we would not have a championship...but we might have got one last year if he wasnt here. I have kind of mixed emotions because when he came here I was like 9 or 10 so he was pretty much my first player that I loved so it would be hard to boo him. But he left and went to the BULLS! almost any other team would have been fine but the fricken bulls, one of our biggest rivals and the team that had MJ who completely trashed the bad boys.so im pretty sure if I went I would want to boo him but I would probably end up cheering for him in the intro and after that boo him everytime he touches the ball and Cheer every time he misses a free throw.
Its def Boo the pistons made him who he is today and he left them for money. They gave him a good contract hes greed got the best of him nd hes gonna get booed severely and he should.
