As of today, Beyonce is now the most nominated woman in Grammys history. Earlier this morning, Beyonce’s self-titled surprise album from last December was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album. Her competition in that category includes Chris Brown’s X, Pharrell Williams’ GIRL, Jhene Aiko’s Sail Out and Mali Music’s Mali Is.... Billboard notes that this nomination broke her tie with country music icon Dolly Parton. They both had 46 nominations before today. With her 47th, Beyonce is the most-nominated woman in Grammys history. Overall, Beyonce is stuck in a tie with producer David Foster for the seventh-most nominations. If Beyonce earns another nomination later today, she can break that tie. Beyonce has won an astonishing 17 Grammys during her career already. We won’t know until Sunday, Feb. 8 if she will add any more to her cabinet at the 57th Grammy Awards, but it is likely.
