<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>NBA Tells Mavs To Take Seats25th November, 2006 - 3:54 amDallas Morning News - Mavericks assistant general manager Keith Grant got an interesting phone call from the NBA office at halftime of Friday night's game.It was to inform the Mavs that they needed to limit their players from showing so much exuberance on the sidelines during the game. The league is cracking down on players standing in front of the bench, which of course blocks the views of customers in the not-inexpensive seats near the bench."I think it shows the great cohesiveness we have on our team," owner Mark Cuban said. "Our guys are always pulling for each other and I think fans can appreciate that. The league called, and we're fine with that." The league also called during the Chicago game Tuesday because a Mavericks player was sitting on the floor on the baseline rather than in a seat on the bench,</div> I really have to disagree with the NBA on this...give me a break. :no1:
I read that the other day, I didnt know how to react to it. I understand that fans have to see the game, but, sh*t, to limit the reactions and the cheering from the players for their teammates?I agree with you, give me a fu*kin breakEDIT: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The league also called during the Chicago game Tuesday because a Mavericks player was sitting on the floor on the baseline rather than in a seat on the bench</div>wtf?!, is that really something to start bitchin about?
<span style="font-family:Lucida Console">Wow... That's lame. I enjoy seeing teammates root for one another. If the NBA cracks down any harder on anything related to "having fun" in the game, I think I'll have to return to watching And1 mixtapes where, though it gets annoying seeing all the fans get rowdy and cuss one another out, the players aren't stopped from gloating after breaking someone's ankles or doing an insane dunk... Even though I hate gloating, I'd prefer that over players pretending to be calm at all times. Emotion is good at times..Sorry. I went from commenting about the Mavs' incident to discussing what can be viewed as my opinion about the technical foul rule...</span>
That is a joke. Not letting a team show too much expression, love, and passion for their team on the sidelines? I cant stand the league sometimes....This should have NOTHING to do with the NBA and all to do with the Mavericks if they are honestly worried about fans with expensive tickets not being able to see the game as good.....this is getting ridiculous.
God, what does Stern want them to do? Just sit there and clap silently? Come on..they should be allowed to show emotion, and cheer their team on..
damn mark madsen is gonna get banned from the league, thats all he does! cheer for the team from the bench
This is stupid. Stern did some good things for the league but the NBA needs some new leadership. I can see them losing a lot of fans if the stupid rules continue.
Wtf Nash lies on our baseline all the time lolThis rule thing can suck my balls. Why do they say not-inexpensive? Just say expensive. And screw the fans who buy expensive seats. If I bought expensive seats, I'd be jumping up with the team anyway, so unless yao f*cking ming is in front of me, I shouldn't have a major problem.
Players sit on the baseline from the youngest leagues to the pros, that is ridiculous.Does the league not think that fans cannot politely ask for the players to sit down if it is that big of a deal? It's no different than a fan to fan interaction.

Oh and I forgot to add that if it's Bruce Bowen. I'll put on a Ray Allen jersey, kick him in the back, and yell 'take that cracka bi*ch!'
I'm glad it isn't just mav fans realizing what a joke Stern is. I've known it for awhile that Stern is on a power trip. This will come back to haunt him at some point. The players union will not like this.
Are you joking? Honestly, this makes veins pop out of my head. I don't friggen understand what is wrong with David Stern lately. He's on a massive power trip and it's getting incredibly out of control. I mean, it's one thing to take away the emotion on the court, but on the bench too??!?! WTF is wrong with him?If I'm the head of the players association, I fight this to the death. You can't let Stern do this, it's absolutely ridiculous and absured. What's next, Stern? You going to limit each fan to 20 cheers per game? fu*kin penguin-looking loser.EDIT: Hey you guys like my new avy? I made it right after I read this thread.
What makes this even dumber, is that is what helps pump up players on the court up, is when they do something and see their teamates on the sideline going crazy and cheering. That is a big momentum builder, how your teamates cheer for you on the sideline. This is just retarded, and no reason for it, other than wanting to be a complete prick.
David Stern is the biggest ego trip Commishioner in Professional Sports. He is ruining the game, making rules that players cannot stand when there is something exciting going on in the game? This is disgusting. I have to watch this P.O.S. run my favorite sport into the ground. How long until players cannot show expressions on their faces? Or until they all have to shave their heads? This man is ruining the NBA, and the players association needs to do something right now, because if he keeps this BS up there is going to be another strike.
I don't have an issue with it really... I don't care for the limiting of everything/emotion etc. but these fuckers get paid exorbitant amounts of money for playing a fu*kin' game... That's it, that's all they're doing for their jobs folks! So the fans that pay the big money to sit near the bench deserve to get a good view of the game... If that means the players stay sitting on the bench during play, so be it.
I think you guys are taking that a little too literally. Obviously he wants players to show emotions, but what I'm getting from that quote is that he just doesn't want the players to remain standing because it may or may not block the view of the fans behind the bench. That's it... he's not saying "THEY MUST STAY SEATED AT ALL TIMES."

Like the posts in this one. It's basically like a guy standing in front of you blocking your view from the game. Not only that, but you paid the most as their floor seats. And your telling me this is Stern trying to ruin the game and keep players from being emotional? Just want to bi*ch about Stern. Also, notice how it's only Mavericks players that were called. Watching most of their games, they stand up a lot. I would be heated if the players barely stood up. But that's not the case and obstructing a fan's view many times during a game is unneeded. Players can cheer sitting down as well. This keeps the fans happy that paid for floor seats. Simple.
