Today is a day of remembrance & I hope we can all take some time today to remember the thousand of brave men & women we lost on this day 73 years ago. And to also give thanks to the strong & courageous men & women who are still serving today to keep us safe. God bless them all.
On 7 December 1961 I gave a report on Pearl Harbor to my Junior Year U.S. History Class. My sources for that presentation were obtained from the book "Day of Infamy, and my father who was a young sailor assigned to the USS Reed, getting short on a 4-8 AM watch when they were hit. Three years after that presentation I was a young GI stationed on Hokkaido checking out some of the underground areas that the Japanese had prepared to fight an Allied Invasion. No doubt the casualty list may have been a million as estimated. That bomb saved not only many American lives but Japanese as well, and I'll always believe that it was a good decision.
