Has anyone on here actually played with it? I f you have what do you think?I have and I think its great!I dont see why NBA players are complaining about it,they're in the NBA, they should score with anyball they use.
It's not even being sold around here and I wouldn't know of anyone who would pay that much for a basketball. So I can't say much about it either. Also, since were on the new ball, where are these drastic changes you guys were saying about the new ball? Seems like players keep adjusting to it and there's no real drop that indicates the ball change was BAD. Plus, the complaints have silenced like there never was a change. Typical kneejerk reactions by fans.
Yeah. It's just like a new system controller or new guitar: It feels different, but with time it's inevitable one will become used to it
I heard that it's got less of a grip on it... When their hands get sweaty, it easily slips outta their hands and stuff... Not sure how accurate that is, but I noticed it bounces a bit different off the rim as well.
BumpCheck out the column of the always brilliant Scoop Jackson on the new ball....http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=jackson/061130

I love Scoop's writing...The new ball is fine, even though I haven't played with it, and the players need to get over it and just play. Scoring is up 2 points a game across the league, as is FG% (up 2 percent). These guys are practicing with the ball, playing with it, etc... they'll get used to it, and a lot of them already are. The new ball hasn't really brought upon any major differences in the game thus far this season, except maybe an increase in turnovers (which I'm not even sure turnovers have increased).
Hmmm, not sure if I agree. Numbers lie sometimes.....If players really don't like it, they should change it back to the old ball. The players who actually play in the game today never have been asked anything about this change, so this isn't fair to them. If the majority of the players want the old ball back (for instance, let these guys vote for it), Stern should decide to bring it back.It won't happen though, because that wouldn't be good for Spalding's name. I hate it when people, or corporations, can't admit that they are wrong.(also a problem with some dutch politics, but that's off topic, sorry)
Numbers do lie sometimes, but there really hasn't been a significant negative impact on the overall product on the floor since the new ball was introduced. Now, I do agree Stern and the league offices made a mistake, and also violated the CBA in the process (as the NBAPA has brought up), by not discussing the matter with the NBAPA before making the change. It really makes me wonder whether PETA was the major reason behind the ball change...But, like you said, I doubt we'll see the NBA go back to the leather ball for a variety of reasons.
My theory is more turnovers lead to easier points hence the reason why point totals are up this year. lol
I dribbled it a bit in the Suns team shop today, and it felt good to me. I can see why they say it gets slippery though...
I dont like the new ball, to me it feels like the underside of an aligator. I didnt think the handeling isn't as bad as a lot of players say it is, but I've only handeled on ball and that was during the summer league.
