...I'd much rather have DRob at about $5 Mil more than what Miller got than McCarthy at $5 Mil less than what the Dodgers gave him..
The non offer to DRob has to be related to lack of commitment to him purely as a closer. Tells they are hedging bets and/or DRob's camp had communicated that non-closer wasnt negotiable. As for McCarthy that has to be a story. Did they think they caught lightning in a bottle? Does this say something about Tanaka, CC, Nova's health? Or is there one more big move...especially with trading away Greene.
__________________ I have an uneasy feeling Greene is going to be a good pitcher but I'm also hoping Didi becomes the very good exciting athletic all-around SS the Yanks and others believe he can be. It's probably going to depend on him being able to hold his own against LHP.
I heard comments on MLB yesterday that the new Dodgers GM Zaidi and Mc Carthy are buddies from the old Oakland Days. I think 4 and 48 was pretty generous. My own thoughts on Mc Carthy were that he'd done a nice job but no more than two years. Read an article on Gregorious and the kid has a great attitude regarding his pending Yankee gig. As long as he stays within himself he'll be fine. Watching "Hot Stove" this AM I'd say the A-hole circus has now begun with much chirping on the part of Harold Reynolds reminding us all that A-hole will get more press than anyone.
OMG...........I dread A-hole being top Yankee story this coming year. It is not even winter yet, and I am already down on the coming season....thanks to impending A-hole circus mania, Cashman's tweeting just sucking air, and the onslaught of mediocrity traipsing on and off the field. CAN'T WAIT. UGH!
All we can hope for is that he sucks so bad during ST that the team won't be able to justify wasting a roster spot on him.
And its for that very reason (one of the kids not getting a chance) that I'm really hoping a-rod is a bust.
______________________ I understand the possibilities and candidates for 3b and 2b without Arod in the mix.....I'm interested in how the Yanks would dispose of Arod. Release him and hope someone claims him or just pay him for the next three years? Is that it? Just release him.
...if he can't play well enough to make the roster no other teams is going to want him either...and if they release him they are still on the hook for the remaining salary. Best case scenario for the Yanx would be for ARod to say that he is physically unable to play due to injuries and then the Yanx would be able to recoup approximately 80% of that salary via an insurance policy that is already in place. ... but ARod's salary and AAV would still be counted toward the annual Yankees payroll as well as the Luxury Tax cap.
__________________________ Okay - My guess has been as long as he can swing the bat fairly well and run without pain (even with a slight gimp), he'll play and he'll see action mostly as a DH and days off on the bench.
If I knew or even thought praying would do any good to keep A-Roid off the field, as a DH, or even a Bat Boy, I'd be on my knees, praying, from now 'til Spring Training.....!!! Maybe someone will run him over if they see him on a sidewalk, yet I doubt A-Roid goes out in public anymore, without a posse.....at the least.....! Hell pay me a cool Mil, and I'll break his legs personally, for the sake of the Team, and Fans. I don't know of anyone, at all, who is looking forward, or even wants to see A-Roid, A-Hole, A-Fraud, even playing Baseball again.....!!!
