___________________________ He doesn't have much "zip" on his passes...or at least not enough to cut it in the NFL. I haven't seen alot of him - have I seen enough? He does move and scramble well. ?
Johnny F'ng Football, what a joke.....I've felt he was over rated since he beat BAMA, 1 time, that's it, 1 time..... His only claim to fame......
Just for the sake of sanity - lets not write off a rookie QB after one NFL start. Okay I said it, proceed with the barrage....lol
Well as long as he's in Cleveland; The Browns and JFF are going nowhere. How many #1 QB draft picks have the Browns had in the last decade. I know of Weeden, Brady Quinn, JFF, and I know I'm missing one or two more?
Lordy Lord, I sure could use a miracle or two...but then where is Doug Flutie when ya' need him. Ah that's Tebow at the door right now...
I'm not sure myself 59, other than he still can't crack the Q- "who were you before your father was born"??? Maybe, or more to it....... Maybe cuz ye' can't be cracked.....and I refuse too....!
2nd thought, maybe Tote, want's to ensure (who he envisions as Uncle Scrooges), to have a nice pagan day of worship, for Santa Claus, who is as much God to most, as other concepts for other more matured minds. Maybe he's praying we will get more than just our normal coal, in the Xmas stocking this year. But Hell, mine's been in storage or in the attic, for decades now.....! Regardless, we still feel the Holiday Cheer, more in terms of: "Every day is a Holiday, every meal a Feast" (mentality).... Damn it, always pisses me off when "peace on earth, and goodwill to men" stops suddenly after the 1st of the year, 'til another pagan calendar date, next year.....Where the fk does all that cheer and goodwill go anyway, into the Goodwill store........maybe Tote's calling out the Salvation Army for us, in lieu of the Natl. Guard in Fergy....!
NFL teams will continue to be fooled by the gimmick college offenses these guys come from instead of looking at how their skills will translate in the NFL. The Andrew Lucks don't come around all the time and are few and far between. There have likely been more Heisman Trophy busts than there have been NFL stars Christ Charlie Ward won the trophy and then was playing for the Knicks.
...^^^ the differences in the "speed of the game" between college and pro are drastic...he doesn't seem to have a very strong arm and is not used to playing against DBs who can close on the ball as quickly as the ones in the NFL do. ...not sure if he's got what it takes to make the jump from college to the NFL...we'll see.
____________________________________ Yep- has anyone noticed the vast majority of QBs who like to leave the pocket and run aren't setting the world on fire with passing stats and team winning% ? Having "only" quick feet within the area of the pocket, quick release, a strong or very accurate arm and good decision making are the key assets. You don't have to be an Olympic Athlete. lol
Manziel has enough zip, underrated arm strength. Hell, he's even quicker and faster than his combine numbers indicate (especially agility), but he's clearly not ready to start yet. He goes through reads like an antsy high schooler. He was also terribly inaccurate. However, you can't pin the loss solely on Manziel, the O-Line was atrocious, the run defense (or lack thereof) was exploited once again especially with their 3-techniques out. And their NTs are done for the regular season. All around bad game.
By the way - for my money, if I HAD to win one game against a very good team in this modern era (past 30 years?) - I'll take in no necessary order Joe Montana, Tom Brady and Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson is absolutely a fabulous QB and leader - and I actually think he is underrated....and I realize he's won just one Super Bowl (1-0) He's the closest thing to Montana - not an exceptionally strong throwing arm - not a "big and fast" QB, but incredible poise, great leadership qualities, good pass distribution (remember, Montana won a National Championship AND a Super Bowl without Jerry Rice), verygood athlete, great decision making and fast enough to escape the pocket and run the ball for a first down. Wilson "always" seems to make the right decision. He is a GREAT QB. Brady is more of a GREAT pocket passing QB who also has the leadership quality, poise, great decision making, spreads the ball around and performs under pressure. Aaron Rogers is my number 4 guy.....for now. lol
