Re: Grade your team's performance so far Grade your team's performance so far! I wish I had the ability to see enough Nuggets games to give an accurate grade...
Re: Grade your team's performance so far For the mavs so far I give them a C. They are doing as well as expected and maybe slighly under par. I expect a 60+ win season for them again. Harris B+Terry C /Buckner DHoward C- InjuriesNowitzki BDampier B+
Re: Grade your team's performance so far Mavericks: BI know they have a great record, and to most people would probably be at the top of the league. I AM happy that they have been able to keep up this big win streak. One thing that I do not like is that they have shown weakness against many teams and against specific ploys such as zone defense. Also, I don't think we've blown anybody out really. I mean, we've had a few ~20 point wins, but that isn't necessarily a blowout. The slow start also contributes to a B grade.
Re: Grade your team's performance so far Pistons:I'll give them a B. Despite their rough start, which was totally expected, the Pistons are coming back and are learning life without Ben Wallace. Pistons have won seven in a row as of now, and will probably be eight after tonite against the Knicks. I really like how Flip is giving our bench solid minutes now - this is what we needed last year - a solid bench behind our tired starters. Flip : B+Rasheed Wallace has been so great. He's showing so much leadership by stepping up and taking a heavier roll in the rebounding, he has been staying in the post more often (instead of shooting the 3 all night) - no one stops sheed in the post. He has also controlled his temper.Rasheed: ATayshaun Prince has also been a key to the Pistons success. Tayshaun, like Rasheed has stepped up the rebounding - Tay has also been very aggressive towards the basket, that's exaclty what the Pistons needed at this point in time. He has been slightly inconsistent, but over the last 8 or so games he has been pretty consistent. Tayshaun: B+Chauncey and Rip have been their same selves - just playing like the best backcourt in the NBA.The Bench: B+I gotta give props to Carlos Delfino who has seemed to understand the Pistons system and has finally put up some great numbers. I'm really happy that he has finally decided to listen to Flip and just play hard. It's been working for him because he's getting more playing time. Carlos: ALindsey Hunter is like the energizer bunny - whenever we say he's too old for his job, he just proves us wrong once again. Lindsey has been doing what he's best known for - his gritty, quick handed defense providing the Pistons with plenty of steals and turnovers which lead to points. Not only has Lindsey performed defensively, he has also been instrumental offensively. Lindsey: BAntonio McDyess - AKA The 6th Starter has been great as well. He seems to have gotten his legs back and is getting his shooting touch back. He's same as last year, nothings changed really and that's exaclty what we wanted from him.McDyess: B
Re: Grade your team's performance so far I give the Mavericks as a whole a A-.They started out really slow, but have come on to win 11 games strait, and over a few pretty good teams mixed in with, of course, some bad ones as well.PG - Harris A-: He's improved drastically as a distibutor and as a shooter, much more than I thought he would've in one off season.SG - Terry B: I'm probably higher on him than most of the Mavs fans around here, but I think he's good, even if he's a little smallish, to play the SG position, and still has the ability to run the point if needed.SF - Howard B+: I'm not counting his injuries, only grading him on what he's done, and he's played well. He scored 26 in the win against Toronto, when Dirk was out almost the whole game, and scored and got stops when it really mattered, when the Raptors got within 5 points or so.PF - Dirk A: I don't know how he could be any lower. The guy has averaged a high double double in all the wins(except Toronto, in which is didn't play much), and has pretty much been the most consistent player the Mavs have had since the beginning of the season.C - Dampier A+: Based on what I thought we'd get from Damp, which was a solid backup to Diop, possibly a solid starter at best, the guy has played like he's worth his contract. He's almost averaging a double double, and has had some key baskets, and a few key defensive plays to win games.Bench B-: Injuries and inconsistency in play is the only reason I'm as low on this group as this. Johnson has played great, Buckner has had some good play in stretches, and of course, Diop is about as good a backup Center as you'll find.

You have the privalege of downplaying your team after an 11 game winning streak. I, as a Celtics fan, havn't had that privalege since March 2005.C: Kendrick PerkinsPerk started off very slow, but he has been playing well lately. He's also battling plantar fasciitis right now, so that's never a good thing. But overall, Perk has done a pretty solid job.Grade: B-PF: Ryan GomesGomes has done his usual: all the dirty work, work his ass off every possession, get rebounds, make hustle plays, hit his 18 foot jumper, etc. Hell, he even had a triple-double one night. Overall Gomes has been awesome. I wish he would hit that 18 footer with a little more consistancy, but overall he has done a good job.Grade: BSF: Wally SzczerbiakWally usually is very consistant, but he has been up and down. One night he'll put up his usual 20, the next night he'll shoot 5-14. He blew the game for us on Wednesday, he hasn't shot well every night..Grade: B-SG: Paul PierceHis numbers have been great, and he has had some great games. But he's not exactly the same Paul Pierce we all know lately. He is forcing some shots lately, and usually late in the game. We can't have that. But at the end of the day, he still is Paul Pierce, and he has been pretty good. He's the only thing keeping us from having the worst record in the NBA.Grade: B+PG: Sebastian TelfairBassy had a tough first couple games as a Celtic, but in the last 8-9 games he has been terrific. He is distributing the ball nicely, displaying a nice drive-and-kick game, running, hustling, penetrating, hitting open jumpers. He really is 10x better at shooting the ball than he has been advertised. But he has done a good job, obviously nothing incredible, but lately I have been loving what he has brought to the table.Grade: B-/BThe starters are devloping some excellent chemistry out there.Bench- Al Jefferson has been excellent, but he missed games due to having to have an appendectomy.- Theo Ratliff has only played in 2 games due to his bad lower back.- Michael Olowokandi has a strained abdoman and he has been out.- Delonte West has.. um... sucked, compared to last year.- Rajon Rondo did a pretty solid job, but Nurse Rivers benched him. Idiot Doc.- Gerald Green has improved a lot, needs consistant minutes, but has done pretty well.- Tony Allen has been up and down.- Leon Powe was doing excellent, but Nurse Rivers strikes again.- Man Boobs (Scalabrine) has been hustling greatly, but he still is not a good basketball player.Grade: DCoachingJust read my responses in the Celtics forum about Doc, if you must know what I think of him.Grade: D-

Re: Grade your team's performance so far I rate the Suns a B- mostly because of that gawd awful start. Lately they have been great all-around and dominating on the offensive and defensive side but they just take a quarter off here and there and the inconsistency is killing them. A reason for that is the lack of bench production. Banks has been a disappointment and Jones and Rose aren't doing much. We need an 8th man at least that can play well and give the starters a break. They are playing well not and a slow start was kind of expected so that's why I'm not grading them lower. They are playing very well right now.
Re: Grade your team's performance so far Raptors-DWe've played like garbage. Our defense has been terrible, we have the worst coach in the NBA, we give up leads, our scoring is inconsistent, etc..Almost nothing has been a positive except for Bosh's rebounding, and TJ Ford.Coaching: D-Sam Mitchell is obviously one of the worst coaches in the NBA. He subs off Chris and TJ when we start to get momentum during the first Q alot, and then we slump again...He doesn't know how to get us to preserve leads, and he just has no clue what he's doing.Chris Bosh: BI only give him a B because of how well he's been rebounding. He was second in the NBA in rpg last time I checked, and still proably in that proximity. He has been a force on the glass, getting alot of one on one rebounds. His strength has wowed me thus far. His offense is what concerns me a bit. He has been very inconsistent. Sometimes he'll give you 25+, and other teams he'll give you a dismal 12 on 30% shooting. His shooting has been a bit off this season. Hopefully that will improveTJ Ford: A-TJ has done what he was expected to do and more. I remember he had one 27 point, 18 assist day. Sometimes he just goes off. I cant express how glad I am to finally have a playmaker att the pg position, and TJ has been doing that very well...The TO's don't faze me..TJ has only played with these guys for about 3 months, it will take some getting used to. I didnt expect him to play defense, so Im not pouring that into the mix here..His offense has been brilliant, and somedays he scores at will. His jumper is improving, and with his quickness, he can take it to the rack easy.Fred Jones: B-Fred hasnt been what he was in ppre-season. Sometimes he just settles for jump shots, and his scoring has been inconsistent. He needs to take it to the rack like he is so capable of doing more often. His stealing on defense has been terrific, but he hasnt quite been up to par on offense.Morris Peterson CUgh..Mo has been injured the past 5 or so games, but when he was in, he hasnt done what we needed of him at all. His shot has been very inconsistent to say the least, he's not taking it in as much as he should, and he has yet to put up consistent big digit scoring games. Add that onto the fact that Mitchell has sent him to the bench, and it's a frustrating start for Mo.Rasho: B+Rasho did what I expected of him. His defense has been solid, and we finally have a body downlow on offense, and defense. He hasnt gotten too involved offensively, but that's fine. All Raptor fans know that that nifty reverse lay up of his is money. He has been benched recently, but he's getting the job done on D.Jose Calderon: AJose has been great scoring wise. You can tell that he has a ton more confidence this year. His jump shot is so improved, that sometimes you think it is Ray Allen shooting the jumper, not the dude that shot just 16% from three a season ago. He also has nifty speed changes off the dribble. He doesn't have great quickness, but he is so crafty that the opposing players can not stop him when he drives. He hasnt been the same playmaker that he was last year, and has settled into more of a scoring role, but hey; I'll take a guard that gives you 8 off the bench on 53% shooting any day of the week..Andrea Bargnani: BHe got off to a slow start, but he has turned it on as of late. He has been getting quite a few 15 point games recently, and has really showcased his skill on offense. He is taking it in to the rim more, and has showed me that he can score in the post a little bit. His shot has been decent, and contrary to his 38% shooting, I didnt expect him to do much this year anyway. He's a 21 year old coming over from Italy. Of course he wont settle into the more hard nosed NBA game right away. Im seeing improvements in things like defense, and rebounding, and I will continue to see improvements with this kid.Jorge Garbajosa: BHe got off to a slow start at the beginning of the year, but he has gotten better throughout the year. His jumper is now money, and not close to as inconsistent s it was just 3-4 weeks ago..He is a really smart basketball player that can rebound, pass, play a bit of defense, etc..and Im glad we have him on our squad.Joey Graham: B+Okay, Im getting alittle tired of doing these, so I'll finish off with the Golden Graham! Graham has been money for us lately. He brings hard nosed play and toughness. He can steal, drive, get to the line, he is just a hardnosed offensive player, and he has done well replacing Mo in the lineup.

And now we made trades expecting to be a better team, and I'm not quite sure we are, at least not yet. So that is why I gave us that grade.I can't understand how mavsfan can give us a C, though. We might be playing not as well as expected, but it's not "subpar."

Re: Grade your team's performance so far Warriors: BThe Warriors have only lost 3 games by large margins and those were our first two losses of the year versus Utah and LA and a recent one versus Denver. So far we've bought into Nellie ball well and Andris Biedrins, Monta Ellis, Mickael Pietrus, Mike Dunleavy, and Matt Barnes are playing well. I think that as the season goes on, we will learn how to close out games better and we should finish somewhere around 45 wins.Individaul Evaluation:Andris Biedrins: A+He's averaging a double double, and has only had one bad game, that one being against Indiana and has shown great offensive moves, and defensive play.Monta Ellis: B+He's been scoring at will, he is showing good passing abilities, but his decision making, his passing, and his dribbling still don't make me extremely comfortable.Mickael Pietrus: AAmazing, how he's playing killer D, scoring 15 points a game, he knows his role, can play big, and he is great at getting kickouts on fast breaks.Matt Barnes: AHe's playing the hustle role well, he can shoot from three point land, he is showing good post moves, and he was the catalyst of the San Antonio game.Baron Davis: B+He's hasn't been that healthy this year, but when he is, he is something amazing to watch. Last night he almost pulled a triple double, and he has hit his career high in assists this year, and his free throw shooting is greatly improved.Jason Richardson: IncompleteHe's been around 75-80 percent all year and has blown up yet. He just rolled his ankle vs. Indy, so we wait and see if this will effect his grade.Mike Dunleavy: CHe's been getting hot lately, and he's playing well off the bench, but screw the point forward idea and having him play PF.Ike Diogu: IncompleteHasn't played much this year due to an ankle injury, but he had a good game this year.Coaching: A-The only thing missing is free throws and finishing games. The rest is our team.
Re: Grade your team's performance so far I agree with ASUfan. Suns: B-We got off to a terrible, but understandable, start. But basically everyone except Banks, Rose, and sometimes Diaw is stepping it up now. We're on fire now, so it's up to B-.
Re: Grade your team's performance so far I'd give the Lakers an A or B+, can't really complain with anything thaty've been doing. Sure the little mistakes here and there, but that's expected.Bynum - AYoung and explosive. P-O-T-E-N-T-I-A-L.Kwame - B-Doing his job so far, hasn't messed up or has been playing poorly.Odom - A+Someone say All-Star!Kobe - A+Someone say MVP!Smush - C+Not starter material, not doing bad but not doing great either.Walton - B+My expectations were low, but he played his ass off and proved me wrong.Phil Jackson - ANo complaints here. It's Phil Jackson!
Re: Grade your team's performance so far I am very dissapointed in the Spurs season so far. The main reason I have been dissapointed is because they have been losing to all of the contenders. It doesn't impress me when they beat teams like Seattle and Portland....They have lost two games in a row, and they have been in a funk latley. I would probably rate them a B -I dont see them winning more than 55 games, even though IMO, they do have a chance to win it all. There are a few teams in the west that are about the same and I think on any given night, any one of those teams could beat one of the others.
Re: Grade your team's performance so far Is this compared to expectations? If so, I give the warriors an AI personally am a major homer and I predicted the dubs to win 34 games. Baron is playing like a superstar, monta is playing like a star, AB is making some major noise, MP is playing the best ball he's ever played, Dungboy is even contributing. J-rich and Murph aren't even at 75% and we still beat the spurs and jazz. Now part of this grade might be that I've only seen their wins and their loss to phoenix (which was a moral victory) so I don't know their bad side yet. They were the most dissapointing team in the league last year and this year they're overachieving. They might even make the playoffs (though I doubt it) which is enough to please any warriors fan.
