this probably isn't the forum where that question has value.

I didn't realize we had up and moved the forum to Seattle! Why didn't I get the memo? Are we all sounders fans as well now?

You think that all the Seahawks fans here are bandwaggoning johnny-come-latelys, Nate? Personally, I wouldn't say that all the Niners fans' just started being niners' fans after Singletary left, but :dunno:

edit: And I have no problem with you being a fan of the San Jose Earthquakes, either...I mean, they do have two championships from awhile ago, so I get it...

bandwagoning is what it is. there are a few die hard long time seahawk fans in existence im sure, from the AFC days. just nobody i knew growing up in oregon. maybe a friends weird uncle or something.

going back looking at old threads, before 2011, the only mention of the seahawks was bobobrewski, tlong, bfw and the professional fan, and that was after a super bowl run in 2006. saying that there arent a shitload of new seahawk fans is just silly. it doesnt make your fandom any less important or genuine, so theres no need to get defensive.

but im not even talking shit about bandwagon fans, they dont know any better, and winners are fun to root for.

Meh, I hate the bandwagoners. I've been a fan ever since we lost to the Ravens in '03 in OT, first time I ever really felt heartache for a team. Plus my dad indoctrinated me into only rooting for teams close to me from a young age, I can say I don't regret doing that.

Calling someone a bandwagon fan without knowing their fan history is lame. I know in the next twenty years if someone says I'm a raiders bandwagon fan I'll want to punch them on the face. A decade of losing will do that to you

Right. I'm not saying there aren't, I just don't think there are HERE. I mean, are there any regular posters who started following Seattle (or, hell, SF for that matter) in the last 5 years? I get that we have hawk, niner, raider fans all in decent proportions here, but we are a pretty mature forum. I don't see a ton of bandwGgoning here, that's my only point in the response.

Ya, I don't see any bandwagoning going on here. But to just play devils advocate for minute, who cares if it does happen? It means nothing to me if someone jumps on or jumps off. Not everyone can get on 10 or more years ago (some just started watching the sport as an example) and if they jump off to the next one then that is their problem not yours.

oh there definitely is, i specifically remember a long time poster here starting a thread about "used to be a 49ers fan but they sucked forever, but the seahawks are really cool so now im a seahawk fan"

    which i can certainly understand

then there is this, front page of espn today

being a bandwagon fan is ok

It's not so much for me about band wagon jumping. What annoys me is that there seems to be this feeling around town that you better root for the Seahawks or you're an outsider. I don't even like to tell people I'm a niners fan.

I see nothing wrong with being a bandwagon fan but I do see something wrong with bandwagon fans trying to say theyv been a big fan of the team for years. Just admit it and take the blows that youll get then most people will get over it.

I used to feel that way about the raiders too. Now everyone just feels sorry for me

In the 80's I didn't really watch football much. At some point I became an Eagles fan. Loved Randall Cunningham and that defense. Then I sort of watched the Seahawks when they had Shaun Alexander and even in 2005 (but I didn't really love the Seahawks then), just watched them with interest. I would say my true fandom of them started in 2010 when I moved up to Seattle and had half-season tickets. Call me a bandwaggoner, but actually living in the City, going to the Clink and Qwest before then a few times a year, I think I will always be a Seahawks fan.

Moving to the actual city from a city without a team and becoming a fan of the local team would make you exempt from any band wagon accusations.
