I would say Lillard's numbers are probably close to peaking but his talent overall isn't close to peaking yet.

Also, Batum is a big reason why we don't need Lillard to average 10 plus assists a game (even though he has been sucking it up in other areas).

Basketball-reference does it by win shares. I believe they have another way of comparing players.

Oh Marz, put the schtick away. It's Christmas. The kid had 40 points and managed to get 11 assists. Not only that he was responsible for the the team going 3-1 on this trip.

Dame is a good kid. He deserves all the love he receives. Nice post by Greg.

That's not quite what I mean. I'm not talking about straight "find me all of the players who shot X%, scored Y points and had Z assists" I'm talking more about the kind of comps that Kevin Pelton used to do for basketball prospectus before he went over to ESPN. He had a system that analyzed the kinds of shots players took, their ratio between 2s and 3s and their physical measurements (and a lot of other stuff); it produced results that said stuff like "Brandon Roy's closest comp is Walt Frazier by 97%" (I'm making that up by the way, I'm not sure what it had to say about him exactly).

as dame gets better at finishing at the rim teams will have to honor it more, he will have more room to kick out to open shooters. he's going to get even better. and there is not currently a PG in the league id trade him for straight up. he may not have the best overall numbers right now but his attitude is perfect, his drive is untouchable, his clutchness unmatched, and his ceiling is higher than any. he went from horrid on defense to decent in 1 off season. just imagine after more work he could be gary payton D and rose offense with a lillard 3 point shot. that's right, lillard 3 point shot is the standard, there is no one to compare

One thing I noticed last night is that Lillard was getting some star calls from the refs. The NBA must have finally sent a secret memo to the refs.

How anyone could find anything to complain about from dame last night is beyond me.

He scored 40 points. He handed out 11 assists. He shot better than 50%. What else do you want?

Yes, when you understand assists, you think of Stockton, Magic, Nash. Not Lillard.

I think he has the skill set needed, he just hasn't been given the role or accepted the role, one or the other.

So, just so we're clear, I'm pointing out that comparing Damians #'s to Nash's prime stats (which is what Marazul did) is dumb..you do realize that, don't you?

I blame the rest of the team for not hitting shots. It's all on them.
