Speculation from players on the Devils is that former Senators coach Paul MacLean will become the next coach of the Devils. (NJ.com)

He had a record of 114-90-35 with Ottawa and a 8-9 record in the playoffs.

MacLean was fired earlier this month by Ottawa.

The Devils will announce their new coach this morning.

I actually like MacLean and think this is a good move by the Devs to bring him in. I thought he did a solid job with the Sens, and won a coach of the year award as well.

Hopefully the Devils will play better so they don't get an impact player in the draft.

That dumbass Lou is coaching with Stevens and Oates doing the forwards and defense. Oh my God. That delusional dumbass has completely lost it. His ego is incredible. He's f'n 73 years old. Further proof that relic is senile.

His ego will never let him tank. He can't accept the fact the team he put together freakin sucks. He'll threaten all those players with death. Somehow they will play .500 hockey the rest of the season.

Dumbest shit I've ever seen. Your roster sucks Lou and now you can go down in flames tonight. Rangers need to bury them tonight.

No way he is tanking. I guess they couldn't agree with MacLean. At days end you have to think Oates gets the job. Funny I was telling some of my Devil fan friends two weeks ago I believed Oates would be their coach next season. He had ties to the Devs.

As for the draft, there are two studs available, and I just cannot see the Devs being bad enough to be top 2. Edmonton is a lock to be # 1 IMO. Which leaves # 2. And Zona, the Sabres, and the Canes all have less points than NJ, and are worse teams (or worst case the same level) IMO. The odds the Devs finish worse than all 3 to get the # 2 pick are long I think. I'll stick with 4 or 5 which is what I have felt for a few weeks now.

Bigger picture on Lou, this is out of control and honestly sad. Love him or hate him...love the Devs or hate them...they won 3 cups with Lou running the show. He/they deserve credit. For him to do this later in his career because the game has passed him by is sad. Makes the Devs a bit of a joke. Makes Lou look like a guy who is old and WAY out of touch. This is sad in a way.

Tonight will be interesting now. Do the Devs get a little bump from the new guys behind the bench OR are they a mess tonight due to the changes? After tonight I hope they win some games so they get a worse pick (no top 2).

Adam Oates and Scott Stevens will both be behind the bench to coach the New Jersey Devils, with general manager Lou Lamoriello on the bench as well, at least during the short-term, to oversee the effort, the team announced Saturday morning.

Lamoriello announced the "unique" scenario at a news conference with reporters. Coach Pete DeBoer was fired Friday.

I would say as time moves on Lou off the bench, but maybe co-coaches? That won't work. Maybe Lou down there to show Oates/Stevens how he wants them to share power.

    WOW Lou has lost it.

Lou is a desperate man. He knows this is likely his final shot at getting things right. If Oates is the man though why this absurd setup? Let Oates coach with Stevens the assistant. Lou is forever the ego maniac.

That's it Mess. If they named Oates as the coach, and brought Stevens back as the assistant focused on D, I would say good for the Devs. BUT Lou cannot do that, and I believe it is all about ego and proving to people he does still have it (he hears the comments also).

To do this and make a show out of it, with two lead coaches and a GM on the bench, is crazy and gets Lou attention. But if it works he can be hailed as an innovator. What this is all about. No doubt about it.

Issue is it cannot work because the team Lou has given them is old and awful. He has drafted very poorly as dump mentioned, and now he hands these guys crap.

I just hope they don't get a spark tonight that usually comes for a handful of games with a new coach...hopefully it comes after a game or 2...:).

Just the same old dog and pony show from a desperate man. There's zero reason to hound Oates and Stevens with his presense.

You don't get it Mess...he is on the bench for a couple of games to teach them how the sharing of power works and will be a great idea. He will show them the way and how to have power together.

My guess is next year he names Oates the coach, but truthfully who knows. Oates should be the coach now period.

If they do well I guess he keeps both as co-coaches? If they falter, which they will because they have no talent, who knows. Maybe bring in someone from the outside?

I mean this is minor league stuff. 3 coaches behind the bench tonight. Co-coaches moving forward this season. Minor league stuff.

Lou Lamoriello has announced that he, Adam Oates and Scott Stevens will coach the Devils. (Devils)

Stevens will run the Devils D and Oates will run the Devils forwards.

Lamoriello will be on the Devils bench for an indefinite amount of time.

Stevens was a Devils assistant coach for the past two seasons prior to this one.

Oates was a Devils assistant from 2010 to 2012 and was head coach of the Capitals for the past two seasons.

Lamoriello has twice been head coach of the Devils, compiling a record of 34-14-5.

Like I said.........he's in charge AND WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW IT.
His Devils will be energized tonight.....BECAUSE HE WILL BE THERE.

Only he can turn around their season. So says Lou.

    ENOUGH ALREADY.

If nothing else, tonight is an interesting game now. Instead of a game between a team going up and a team falling apart and going down, we now have something to talk about and focus on. Certainly makes it more interesting with Lou behind the bench.

We just need to play our game and hope the Devs are off their game with all the changes and craziness.
