I don't think you could ask for much more from Wright.

    8 points off 3-6 shooting, 2-4 from deep, 2 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks.

This may look like a weird trade but I think it would have a lot of potential for us off the bench while not having to risk any cap space.

    Portland: Derrick Williams
    Cleveland: Jason Thompson, Joel Freeland
Sacramento: Dion Waiters, Victor Claver, Alex Kirk

This would allow Cleveland to sign Ray Allen, Sacramento gets a true 6th man and we can go into the FA pool and look at guys like Shannon Brown or Franciso Garcia.

We aren't going to do any trade for the reason Bill and Zach mentioned; no training camp. Almost everyone on our roster has been here multiple years and learned both the offensive and defensive systems we run. There isn't enough practice time now to integrate a new piece.

Other than the ones I remember (Detroit in the 80's and in 04), when was the last time a trade was made in-season, or a signing was made mid-season, that paid off with a title?

    Has there been?

My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think Pau Gasol was a mid season trade and the Lakers went to the finals. I don't think they won it that year though

I think you're right. They did trade for him and make it to the finals but lost to Boston.

Josh Smith is no Pau Gasol though.

The Lakers record pre Gasol was 30-16, post Gasol they were 27-9

100% agree. And that Laker team had Phil Jackson, while Houston has the mental midget mind of Herman Munster

If I'm not mistaken Moses Malone went midseason to the Knicks and they won a title

you'd be mistaken. He never played for the Knicks.

He did, however, get traded from Houston to Philadelphia, who won a title with him, but he was never traded during the season (outside of being traded pre-season as a Blazer, and then 2 games into the regular season Buffalo flipped him).

Am I supposed to harp on the fact you got a memory wrong, and we argue about it over and over and over and over?

Looking at that 76ers team, wow..they had a HOT stretch of basketball in the middle of the season.

won 14 in a row, lost one. Then won 6 in a row, and lost 1. then won 10 in a row.

    So that's 30-2.

Dallas in 10-11 traded for haywood, caron butler and Stevenson and won the title.

Nevermind I looked at that wrong. Trade was made at previous deadline.

New piece in this case would be Jeff Green, a bench player who would play 20-20mpg max. Wouldn't require too much integration.

I doubt olshey makes any trade now unless it's qualifies under the No Brainer Clause. If some team is being total idiots and asking to be fleeced, Neil will help them, otherwise we go to war with what brought us this far.

I just don't see it happening. Our bench scoring is based off Blake and Kaman along with one of LMA/Dam/Wes always being on the court. The players here know where our primary offensive options want the ball. They know how we rotate defensively and what teammates to funnel the opposition towards for help. From a fantasy perspective of course Jeff Green is a superior option but I think Stotts and Olshey would rather continue to roll with Crabbe and Freeland at the 3/4.

The more I think about it, the more I like what we already have. If Wright could perform like he did last night, he's the perfect back up.

As Matthews has said "we haven't played our best ball yet". That statement is true because Batum hasn't played to what we are accustom to. When his shot starts falling, getting Lopez back and the bench gaining more experience; we can become way better!

Batum's only problem has been his 3pt shot is off. He's shooting great from inside the arch; 55% much better than the majority of our team. He shoots more shots per minute than Steve Blake. I hope his long ball becomes more accurate as had been the norm for his career. But his playmaking has still been good this year along with his defense so I think his criticism has been unfairly harsh.

Honestly, I think the injury to Robin and LaMarcus getting sick, and Batum stinking up the joint, has done more good than bad. But the one that has been the best (in this regard) has been CJ's injury.

Yeah, I know it sounds cliched, but it made the other guys step up and get their confidence up and show they can actually contribute.

It SHOULD help them improve as the season goes along and potentially could help them a lot next year (assuming they keep most of the pieces for next year).
