Re: 'My teams perimeter defense stinks! Ahhh!' When I look around the league...nobody is really stopping these perimeter guys. I think generally perimeter defense is overrated considering the league won't allow them to play defense. It's like in the NFL, you have a couple really good cornerbacks like Champ Bailey but the rest are muddled and not great enough to be elite because the league doesn't allow them to play tough defense on WR's. Just like in the NBA you have a Ron Artest...but the rest are mainly just 'okay' and guys going through the motions. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Redd, Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas and Dwyane Wade are going to get the points regardless of who's defending them. Rarely do you see these guys go 4-20 with 13 points, you know? Thoughts?
Re: 'My teams perimeter defense stinks! Ahhh!' The thing is, these guys are just too talented. It's that simple. It's just impossible to physically "stop" someone nowadays, because of all the offensive talent out there. You have your Bruce Bowen's, your Ron Artest's, you Andrei Kirilenko's, etc. that can maybe slow these guys down and disrupt them. But shut them down? No, it's not happening. These guys are just too skilled and too athletic.
Re: 'My teams perimeter defense stinks! Ahhh!' I think defenders are just as skilled and athletic but they have their hands tied behind their backs.
Re: 'My teams perimeter defense stinks! Ahhh!' It definitely doesn't help when you can't touch them at all or it's a foul.

Simple fact is that in any era, any type of defense you can't stop superstars.
Re: 'My teams perimeter defense stinks! Ahhh!' Haha, every single year since I really got into following basketball closely, the Celtics have had sh*tty perimeter defense, so it doesn't bother me much anymore.

There are guys in this league that get to the free throw line if you stare at them too long. It's out of control, really. I wish the NBA still allowed contact like they did in the 90's and earlier. The competitiveness on the court rises, the fans like it more, old school fans would begin to come back, rivalries could be restored/created, etc. It's just a better game that way.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (yankshater213 @ Dec 2 2006, 06:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Haha, every single year since I really got into following basketball closely, the Celtics have had sh*tty perimeter defense, so it doesn't bother me much anymore.</div>Haha yeah, we are immune to bad defense in Boston. It's not even a discussion anymore, it just happens.
