    Exactly

We're talking about the chance at an unprecedented run in Blazers history. It would be awesome.

You're kind of discounting Wade's greatness

I don't see how acquiring LBJ, if even possible, is even in question? As long as we don't trade Dame, Aldridge and Lopez in process.

LBJ is the superstar version of Batum. Everything we lack, he would fill easily. Post up, getting to the foul line, clutch playmaking, and defense. And you know dame well he would be so invested in Portland too!

Perhaps but at the same time you may be discounting Dame and LMA with another year of growth and improved game from having LBJ on the court with them. I can see it them being every bit as successful and maybe more clutch

Wade and Bosh were absolutely awesome! The fact that Miami didn't even have a center and made it to the finals for 4 years straight says a lot under those circumstances.

My argument isn't "Our big 3 is better than their big 3", it's that we have a center and perfect SG for LBJ. So it's our "big 5" is better than Miami's "big 3"

With LBJ on board I don't think Wes would be around

LeBron needs to stay there and make it work. It's an organization that everything they did in the offseason. They did for him. It's not like they aren't trying.

Why? Money? Or he would have to be part of the trade? Because if its money I cant imagine a more likely scenario for PA to open his wallet

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

What do you mean? Like we would have to trade Wes to get LBJ? No way Cleveland would do that for 3 reasons...

1.) Matthews is unrestricted, so he would absolutely bolt.

2.) Cleveland would want player(s) that would still be under contract.

3.) Trading Matthews would leave a gaping hole at 2.

If you make a trade, use Batum, CJ, T. Rob and Leonard. That gives Cleveland a poor man's LBJ, with an up and coming SG, a young raw Leonard and T. Rob

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

With LBJ/Aldridge/Lillard making the MAX, it gets to a point where is it really worth paying Wes that much money for a small role?

Depends on how much luxury tax Allen wants to spend

Why are you guys talking about trades?

    LeBron would be a FA

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

Can someone help me understand how we get max cap space without letting at least two of our starters (and probably 3 of our top 6) go? Then it becomes something you have to think about. Maybe you still do it, but you have to thisnk about it.

Oh shit sorry... I was thinking Cleveland would want to trade before he becomes a free agent.

I was thinking differently... I was thinking Cleveland would want to trade LBJ before he became a free agent. With a trade, then we could keep the entire team, excluding who we traded of course, locked up for many years

The problem is the cap holds on our existing players. Brian is right... We would need to give up Matthews and Lopez in order to offer a max to LBJ

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

The salary cap this season is $63M

The Blazers have $36M on the books for next season

A MAX offer per year is what, like $20M-$25M per year?

The Blazers could make it work before re-signing guys like Adridge etc, unless I'm horribly wrong on how the NBA salary cap and contracts work.

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

The cap holds on Matthews is 150% of his last contract (13 mil or something), Lopez has a cap hold of 200% because he's below average (10 mil), Aldridge is 150% of his last contract, so what's that like 20 mil?
