Haven't gotten to see the game so far but it is 49-54, sixers are losing. Carney is shooting great from the field, 7-10 with 14 pts and Iverson with 18 pts, 5 assists. Interesting how Chris Webber is magically healthy once Shavlik broke his ankle.
This is a fun game to watch, although we're down by 7 at the half. Carney has really stepped up in Korver's absence, with 14 points on 7-11 shooting. He's had two big dunks on cuts to the basket, and a few easy put-backs and easy buckets around the rim off of feeds from AI and Webber. I like his aggressiveness, and if he can develop a consistent mid-range game he is going to be an integral part of our future.Iverson is also playing well, as he always does. Iggy needs to be more aggressive, once again, and Webber's play has been surprisingly well (except the 3-8 shooting). He has four assists and five rebounds. We really have no bench tonight since Korver is out, and that will kill us down the stretch. I'm really liking NJ's bench as they are giving them energy that Kidd/VC/RJ don't give them (hustling, rebounding, etc).Should be a good one in the second half, and we need to improve defensively if we are going to pull this one out.EDIT: Sorry, didn't see your thread, so I merged the two. And yeah, it is miraculous how Webber is healthy once Shav breaks his ankle, right?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Renton @ Dec 2 2006, 07:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Isn't it true that Webber's "sudden recovery" has more to do with Mo Cheeks than Webber himself?</div>It's a combination of both, in my opinion. Cheeks has made his sentiments very clear by going to the paper a few weeks ago and basically saying Webber isn't getting time in the fourth quarter because he is a defensive liability... and Webber suddenly became injured after he went public stating he wanted more time in the fourth and that he wants to contribute, etc.Randolph was clearly out-hustling and outperforming Webber when he was on the court, and now that Shav broke his ankle it opens up the opportunity (and the need) for Webber to play. Cheeks knows he doesn't have a lot of good big men now since Hunter is still playing with a sprained knee, and he doesn't want to rely on Alan Henderson and Ivan McFarlin too much. Thus, Webber has (unfortunately) returned to the court tonight...Back to the game... the difference so far: 12 bench points for NJ, only 4 for Philly.
Okay, this is a 76'ers forum, so you might not care what I have to say, but I'm glad coach Frank is finally using his bench!
