I'm not even sure i would definately bring back Zuccarello, as the team could stand to get a little bigger through FA plus have to fit Duclair on the roster. He hasn't been as noticeable this year though i guess of late his stats have been ok.
Regarding Zucc...I would call 9 points in his last 10 games, of which we have won 9, and a + 8 over that stretch better than okay, BUT in here that constitutes okay...I am well aware of that.
To me the bottom line is we need to be smart. We need to not simply toss picks away for nothing...BUT we also need to realize where we are, chances are not guaranteed to be there every season, and understand what we need this season and make moves accordingly.
I just don't think he's a guy you definately have to bring back at all costs. Some of it might depend on whether MSL comes back too.
I'm actually back on the side of being high on Zucc again. I think he brings an agitator element when he's on his game to the team. He's also great in shootouts and while the league still uses them, it might mean an extra 3 to 5 points a year and that could be huge. I figure he's a 40 to 60 point guy and he's good defensively.
For sure, but I think that goes without saying...no? I think maybe you sort of switch cap hits for Zucc and MSL. Zucc goes up to around 5 per, maybe a little less like 4.5 to 4.8 per. MSL comes down to 3.5 per give or take. Seems to make sense to me. I have to think Zucc would take that. And I have to think MSL would take that discount to stay. And if not for MSL he goes. We cannot go higher than 3.5 or so for him IMO.
I agree...I like Zucc also. Even after another slow start he is on pace for 15 goals and 45 points. I think he is a legit 16-18 goal 50-55 point guy. Worth a cap hit in the mid to upper 4's IMO. I would bring him back for sure unless he gets crazy. Good guy as well.
I wonder if Boyle loves his new, expanded role in Tampa. He's playing a whopping 12 minutes a night. Perhaps he realizes now that he just sucks offensively and will never get better. That's why happens when you listen to your dumbass wife who just wants to tan all day.
