    I re-set it to 20 already.

And i re-did my score, it was 4.2 now (everything else was 5.9, but the graphics was 4.2)

I manually switched it to the Portland scheme, instead of the default one, and it seems better. could be coincidence or something other you did.

And please switch back to the xenforo default (not the sportstwo default). Only for our diagnosing this issue

I just opened up 4 new tabs, and the lag wasn't bad (as it was earlier), so I don't think it's a chrome thing.

    OK.

It was slowest in the game thread, but occasionally it gets slow in regular old threads (this one is starting to slow a bit now)

It's just you and me and you're using the base xenforo.

"Info on browser and version might be helpful. Does task manager suggest that cpu or memory is excessively used? You ca also use about:memory to see what memory is being used."

That's from the developers and others at xenforo's forums.

I switched to Firefox and the lag isn't nearly as bad.

I'm going to test it with just firefox for a while. So far it seems better.

Chrome is a resource hog, FWIW. It trades high RAM usage for speed. If your computer is swapping, it'd seem really laggy in general. Swapping means the programs you're running have used up the 4G of RAM and it's temporarily moving running programs to disk to make more RAM available.

How bad is the lag with firefox?

I used to use firefox a lot, but changed to chrome a few years ago. It isn't as good as I thought maybe.

Although this is lagging again when I type. So maybe that's not the issue.

    Not nearly as bad.

but why would it only be this website?

My physical memory was high w/chrome, now it's less.

If I check task manager, firefox is using 280K of "memory (private working set) "
    it says.

It really seems to be specific to your computer. It's not servers, it doesn't seem to be network.

Are you running any other programs? Virus checker? Firewall?
