You can "watch" threads and forums. When anyone posts in one of your watched threads or forums, you get an alert. You don't have to reload the page to see if someone posted in one of those. You can control whether you automatically watch a thread by posting in it via your settings.
Ok, I kinda figured that, but my question, I guess, is more, after I read a thread and there are no unread posts in a thread, the numbers don't go down, they remain there and keep going up... Aside from ignoring them, do I just customize/remove that feature as '59 suggested?
Mouse over the alerts and there should be like a dropdown menu of alerts that came in. If you mouse over for a bit, they all get set to "read" state.
Let me clarify that... on my tablet or phone, I can't get them to go away... on my PC I can... weird...
On my iphone, I tap on Alerts at the top and the dropdown appears. I leave it there for about 3 seconds and they all go to "unread" state.
I don't do apple... I have an old piece of crap about to be upgraded in 2 days Samsung Stratosphere... My Verizon Tablet though is pretty new and it wouldn't let me either...
All I can say is it should work. You're not being descriptive enough about what it is doing and what it is doing wrong for me to help...
ok, well I don't have my tablet in front of me as I leave it at home, but when I take my finger and try to move over it, tap it, click it, or what have you, nothing changes... On my phone, It opens up my page, and any time I click on Alerts it takes me to my inbox... then from there I can click on alerts and it takes me to alerts, but that is 3 steps rather than a simple 1 click type of thing... I'm not sure what additional info would be more descriptive to help...
That's actually pretty good as a description goes. On my phone, I see this: Similar on the iPad. Do you know the model of phone you have? I bet it works with the new one you're getting...
Samsung Stratosphere currently... don't know what I'll pick next... but I know I can get a new with my new every 2 in 2 days... I honestly don't know what is available, what is free, etc. I'll find out when I get there...
I'm guessing that has a very old browser and version of android. You might try installing Google Chrome on it. If you do, try it and I bet it works.
ok, If it doesn't work on my new phone, I'll try that... On my tablet as well as on my computer, I'm using firefox, not chrome... works on the computer...
...after swearing by Firefox for years, I changed to the Chrome browser about 3 years ago. It's by far the best browser out there.
