And the dude's making like 7M a year? This is by far the best free agency signing the Bulls have made in the past 30 years, right?

Without a doubt since the MJ era, IMO. Its great on many levels. Its great on a value for money basis. He's performing at an elite level. He chose the Bulls over other good teams. And its fitting like a glove.

Its funny how luck is more powerful than planning often.

The Bulls tried to be bad for many years to get high lotto picks. Then they lucked into Rose.

The Bulls built Cap Space 4 times and ended up with Mercer, EROB, Wallace + Boozer on overpriced contracts. Then they "struck out" on Melo. And Gasol falls right into place.

Let's hope we're loving year three of this deal as well, but if the Bulls win the title this year, its AOK.

Gasol could turn out to be the best Bulls' FA signing EVER. Near as I can figure, the bar is set with Ron Harper and/or John Paxson.

Yah, the only great value FA signing I could think of really was Brian Williams aka Bison Dele, but he was nowhere close to Gasol in terms of effectiveness.

Best center we've had since Artis Gilmore.

In any case, we had the chance to trade Luol Deng for him back when he was in his prime.

I don't think he'd have liked playing for Skiles though. He ended up getting to play for the best.

Ok, I'll bite. Noah's the only Bulls' center to make NBA first team. He doesn't count...why?

Noah's competition for 1st team was DHoward and Marc Gasol. And he's not a very good offensive player. With no effective PG last season, the offense ran through him and he got a lot of assists.

Gilmore was a great defender, too, and had to compete against Kareem (at least) for 1st team. If Noah played back then, he'd be the Boerwinkle or Clifford Ray level player. Boerwinkle was a great assist man and defender and rebounder.

Gilmore was an 11 time all star, had a career DRtg of 101, a career PER over 20, a reliable 20+ PPG scroller, and was excellent into his late 30s.

Noah isn't 1st team this season by any stretch. Gasol is way outplaying him, fwiw.

    Much better than his predecessor.

More length. More skilled. His game is better suited to withstand aging more so than Boos Cruise

I'm happy with Gasol, but Noah won awards last year next to Boozer, the team defense was better, and this year next to Gasol, Noah isn't so great. He's not even guaranteed to finish games.

It defies logic, but the numbers don't lie,
