Sorry to dissapoint. Actually quite a brilliant marketing stroke by team AROD. Instagram a "selfie" working out at home in the cage, give an interview that he isnt conceding 3B to Headley. If he can keep on message and only talk about baseball and team, he's got a shot at weathering the pending storm. However I don't think he has the discipline to follow Jeter's career example....way too much ego with a side of inferiority complex. You have to wonder if Jeter's Players Tribune site isn't just antagonizing/tempting the shit out of Alex. Suckering AROD into writing his own article there....now that is just fodder for center ring in his circus.
And we as fans are to dumb to know that hitting in a cage & facing live pitching after almost 2 years don't mean shit. And generally I don't wish bad things on anyone but I really hope this ego maniac has trouble hitting at the mendoza line during ST & that he falls on his face.
Channeling my inner 59....he's gonna fail in ST. Every opposing pitcher the first few weeks is gonna be some kid fighting for a spot, and those kids will be tasked with a mission to beat the cheat.
Just pound him in high and tight, follow up with a couple of sliders down and out of the K Zone (outside low gopher killers, and he will swing at every ball thrown there. Alex should be a very easy target with a low B'Avg, IMO. I can't see how much hitting in a cage at home is going to bet him, near full time Playing, not at 3rd, he won't last physically, and probably only will only face LH'd Pitchers, a DH by Platoon...!
You're a sick evil bastard....keep it coming. The long shot that that is, if he plays well its the circus that will be on steroids.
No way ARod rips the cover off the ball...he may see some early cameo shots at DH but that's it...he will fail.
Whether he's under contract or not is irrelevant...it's simply not realistic to expect ARod to actually benefit the offense.
Yep but, the Yankee offense could still use an added benefit and if it comes in the form of a surprise so be it. I also tend to root for the laundry.....unless the guy is beating up his wife or something.
Oh, I pull for "the laundry" too. But ARod is where I make an exception...not just because he's taking money on false pretenses, but also because he has embarrassed the Yankees brand and sullied it also. ...he'll try to make a come back of course, but he'll fail. And it will be quite obvious by the end of ST.
In a weird way, I'm anxious to see how the final stages of Arod(the player) plays itself out. Possibly watching him embarrass himself, then maybe having a press conference announcing his retirement...getting choked up.....or maybe, perhaps doing just well enough to hang on and becoming a burden......or being unceremoniously cut by the team during ST.... lol I hear what everyone says about him embarrassing the organization, bad mouthing the GM, the lawsuits, and I agree it has gotten ugly - but I really think he's just an immature brat at heart with a huge ego and pride (he WAS a tremendous athlete) who can't be humble and lashed out using his money. But nobody has ever accused him of not working or playing hard all the time. But yes, he's been acting like a big jerkoff.
Yep, tarnishing the Yankee Brand, is unforgivable, and should be punishable by hanging or a firing squad. As for A-Roid, I doubt he can make it to the Opening Day Roster. I just don't see #13 going anywhere, except hopefully home for good....now that would make my day, rather Season too.
