http://news.bostonherald.com/blogs/celtics/ <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>December 3rd, 2006 Sunday practice update: Szczerbiak out Monday Posted by Steve Bulpett at 2:58 pm CHICAGO -- Wally Szczerbiak said today he will not be available for tomorrow night's game here against the Bulls. Szczerbiak sprained his left ankle on the last play of Friday's loss in Toronto, and while it has improved since then he won't be able to go Monday. The ankle will be evaluated again Tuesday when the Celtics return to Boston. Paul Pierce (bruised right elbow) will be in the lineup against the Bulls. He went through the full practice today and even felt good enough to challenge team equipment man John Connor to a long distance shooting contest afterward. In a one-possession two-on-two game Doc Rivers and assistant coach Tony Brown beat Gerald Green and Al Jefferson on Brown's 19-foot fallaway from the right. The win means the players have to buy the coaches dinner tonight.</div> So, no Wally, and Pierce is playing as expected. I say start Delonte at the 2 (he would be successful against a small Chicago backcourt). This would also give Rondo backup PG minutes and have Gerald and TA backing up Delonte and Pierce. Doc and Tony Brown beat Gerald and Big Al in 2-on-2? :shok: That's f*cking sad. I mean, I could understand if Doc still has some game, but Tony Brown? On Al Jefferson?
Makes me wonder if it even makes a difference that Wally won't be playing in the game? Odds are, they may end up losing anyway (hope not!)
Haha it was a one posession game, that could mean they never even saw the ball and Tony got lucky on an 18-footer. But like you said, Rondo may get to play, which is bad for us fans, because we will again get to see how good he is, then proceed in watching him rot on the f*cking bench the rest of the year. F*ck you Doc Rivers.
I thinks this will hurt the celtics. Even though this will give more minutes to Rondo and Delonte, it always hurts when a 20+ scorer is out. Although, this will allow the celtics to play at a more up tempo type game which I think will help them alot.I thinks this will hurt the celtics. Tony Brown hit a mid-range jumper. Not a big deal. At first, it made it sound like they played to like 11 or something and the coaches won haha. If that was the case, I would have e-mailed Danny to see if Tony Brown would play backup SG for us. But guys, who would you start here? If Doc really wants to stick to his word, Delonte is a PG again, then he will start either Gerald or Tony Allen. I personally think Doc will start Delonte at the 2, but if he wants to stay strong with his own word, he'll start Gerald instead.
I'm not surprised. Pierce is a warrior. Wally, well, isn't one. I might actually want TA to start then sub delonte in a few minutes later, like at the 7 minute mark or so. I think TA would do a good job defending gordon, and he likely wouldn't try to do too much on offense when Pierce is on the floor.

Now, who would you rather start? Delonte or Gerald? I personally would want Delonte to start, so Rondo could actually get minutes. But at the same time, I would really like to see Gerald get a chance.
Actually now that I think about it, I would love to see Gerald get the start. I think that would give him ALOT of confidence and he would play great. He would be playing against alot of guys close to his age which I think would make him more comfortbale(if that makes sense what so ever). Although when it comes down to it, we all know that Delonte is going to start....I guess its ok as long as Gerald gets good playing time.

Last time Wally didn't play, Gerald only played 12 minutes. He scored 8 points in his first 6-7 minutes on the floor too. We even had a 25 point lead that game at one point. :ranting:
