I know that this is something that will be kinda hard to determine, but take a top level college player, compare him to a current NBA basketball player, and say who will have a more succesful NBA career when it is all said and done. Be creative and use as much evidence as you can...GO IN TO DEPTH!I will choose Kevin Durant from Texas and compare him to Tracy McGrady, and say that Durant will be more successful when it is all over. When you look at Tracy McGrady's career, it is filled with great statistics. BUT, he has been on the losing in for as long as I can remember. Now I know that he hasnt had alot of opportunity to thrive because of his teammattes, but now that he has a solid supporting cast in Houston and a GREAT big man to go alongside him, he is having injuries left and right. I know this season hasnt been too bad, but the season is young and I guarantee that he will get injured some how. When I look at T-Mac's career, I dont view it as a success....He has really lost a step or two over the couple of years because of injury and I think you are going to see a solid decline over the next couple seasons. When I look at Durant on the other hand, I see a player that plays somewhat similar. He would have gone 2nd in last years draft if High Schoolers would be able to go pro, and he is predicted to go 2nd in next years draft also if he leaves Texas early. Like McGrady, he has alot of talent. He is a great all around scorer...He is shooting nearly 50% from the 3 point line and from every where else on the floor. He is a GREAT rebounder getting almost 10 a game in college. Unlike T-Mac, he is a solid defender. He has a very big wing span which allow him to get a great amount of blocked shots, and he also has a nack for finding the ball and stripping it from the opposition. Also, once Durant fills in to his body a little bit more, it will help him out down in the block more. Now I know I cant predict the future and determine if Durant will get a big injury, or if he becomes a bust, but I am taking from what I have seen of him and I think he is going to be a star. If Durant CAN stay healthy, he will be more successful because that is what is really hurting T-Macs career.
I'll go over some of my favoirte college players:Julian Wright of Kansas: Andrei Kirelenko. Exceptional passer, has alot of length, gets plenty of blocks and steals. lacks a jumpshot. Tendency to stuff the stat sheet in plenty of categories. I think Julian Wright will be the better scorer, but Kirelenko the better defender.Darell Arthur of Kansas: Chris Bosh. Offensively, he's definitely a go-to guy. He's got a good midrange with some nifty post moves. His athleticism allows him to block alot of shots. Chris Bosh gets the edge for now, because I haven't seen any of darell arthur outside of the mcdonalds all-american game.Brandon Rush of Kansas: Paul Pierce. He isn't the quickest player, but he's just a natural scorer. He's accurate from the 3-pt line, but can hurt a team from anywhere on the court. Pretty good rebounder for a guard too. Paul Pierce will have a better career, I don't need to explain why.Al Horford of Florida: Emeka Okafor. Extremely athletic shotblocker. Doesn't have near the offensive game as emeka tho. But He's strong and a pretty smart player, a hard worker. They play very similar on defense. Due to injury, Okafor may not have as good a career as Horford. But if Emeka can stay healthy, no question emeka wins this.Corey Brewer of Florida: Larry Hughes. Exceptional ballhandler on the wing, pesky defender that gets plenty of steals. prototype for a trapping defense, due to his length, athleticism, and instinct. Could use some work on his shooting, but it's not bad. I think Corey Brewer will be better easily because he can stay healthy and he can do more things with the ball.EDIT: oops, kinda misread the topic. So I'll say who I think will be better too.
