--Another trade looking at bringing in a bench scorer for the second unit. I think Miles is playing below his value on a poor Pacers team. He would have some good looks in this system, and I would be fine with him having the green light off of the bench. He had a TS% of 56.9 last season with the Cavs while posting a per of 16.03. Both of those numbers are down this season while playing for a Pacers team that should give serious consideration to playing for the lottery. He did some decent work in the 10-11 playoffs for the Jazz. In his 10 games he averaged 14 points, however he played 33 minutes per game at that point. Miles is not an amazing defender, but also not a liability. He is a deadly 3 point shooter who can bury teams when he's got it going. This trade is done with the assumption that T-Rob is not going to be with the team next season.

Talent-wise that trade is great. However, I don't think POR Brass wants to bring on salary for the coming years unless it is a slam dunk. Not sure it is in this case (although some would say it is and I might lean that way).

That's funny, I was just putting together a trade with Indy. I'd much rather have Miles than Stuckey (see my previous post).

I think miles is a good player, he just isn't that great at creating for himself, he reminds me of a small ariza. I'd take him though if it only meant giving up a couple expiring players. I just think Stuckey would fit better and would love to play close to home.

Steve Blake is one of the best bench PGs when it comes to getting players their shot. If Miles were playing strictly with the second unit he wouldn't need to create his own shot. If Miles plays with the first unit he will get open shots as the opponents shift their focus to Dame and LA. I think we need a wing player more than a 3rd pg.

As I stated yesterday in the Matthews thread I think we should trade all of our starters for draft picks. I think we could get 10 first round picks for them.

    3 for Lillard
    3 for LMA
    2 for Wes
    1 for Batum
    1 for Lopez

I don't think Stuckey is a PG though, I see him as a Manu Ginobili (current not prime) kind of player. I'd love to have a guy who can break down a defense by himself and get to the basket. Also at an under 1 million dollar salary? If it didn't work out we aren't losing much.

That's fair, it is a low risk situation. I still think its crucial to look for players who will fit into the system, especially when you have a team that is 29-8 midway through the season. I don't think you want to change the benches identity with just over half of the games remaining before playoffs. Stuckey isn't a very good shooter, and not very long. I'm not sure he would be effective if teams are clogging the paint and taking away his penetration. Miles can get to the rim, even though he's not a great finisher, but his strong suit is his shooting. I think Stuckeys poor shooting would be a failure in this system.

Yeah he isn't a shooter by any means, more of a slasher but luckily for him he could have any of Blake, Crabbe, CJ, Leonard, Dame, Wes, LA or Kaman to kick out to if the middle is clogged

Now tell me your true feelings on such a trade. Peer pressure aside.

I will tell you mine. Kobe is done. Fried. So unless he just wanted to retire and we got pure cap space out of it....

I don't think he is. He might need to get healthy. But I don't think he is done. I think he still hungry to win but he is not going to do it there. He is wasting any ounce of resources he has on something that is going no where. He wants to beat Michael in Titles. Well, give him the opportunity.

Can you honestly with a straight face tell us that you'd want Kobe taking some of Dame and LA's shots away?

I think Kobe is professional enough to know and understand whose team this is and who would need to fit in.

bottomline, I've had my fill of Nic.

LOL no, Kobe would demand the ball in crunch time and would sulk when Dame gets the nod and takes the glory, did you forget his reaction to Nick Young's game winner?

That contract kills our chances of retaining Wes, Rolo, and LA. I also don't think there is any chance he comes in and doesn't mess up chemistry. I can see him during the first practice "alright boys yall got to 29-8 and have been playing great, but now I'm in charge and I'll be calling the shots." I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he wanted the last shot over Lillard as well.

Two different Situations. I would obviously want to make sure his mind is right and focused on the right things before making a move. But I personally think know that he is going to be surroundered by good character guys and even more winners. He will submit to what's going on.

No, it just means if we retain them all then we pay a buttload in tax. We can bring everyone back if we wanted to.

But there are many other reason not to want the Kobe deal.
