Ben Wallace, you can make a case for him being overrated defensive wise, but he scares penetraters and is(or was...) a rebounding machine.
it kind of depends on how you define role player because I dont think of ben wallace as a role player

As a Nuggets fan I have to say I already have the two role players I want in Najera and Evans. I wouldn't mind a shooter like Kyle Korver. We could desperately use his shooting.

I'm sorry, austingriz, I have to disagree with you here as well. When you have the lable of a future Hall of Famer, I don't necessarily think of a role player. It would probably be a center for the Celtics right now. There is one that would be near the top of my list, but he's already on the team (Theo Ratliff), he's just injured all the time. I guess I would have to say Andris Biedrins. He's young, he's an outstanding rebounder and shot blocker, he would fit excellently with our running offense, and he shoots a very high percentage.
He's already on my team. Diop. I don't any role player that is as active in the interior. Luke Walton is another one that would be a nice addition. Kirilenko if you consider him a role player. Other names include Bruce Bowen, Gerald Wallace, James Posey, Rasheed Wallace, and Tayshaun Prince.
This is my opinion on what role player qaulities are:<ul>[*]They bring it everynight[*]They always play good D, even if they're not physicaly equal [*]They do what ever it takes to get the ball[*]They do whatever it takes to win[*]They are willing to give up touches to win[*]They are extremely hard-working[/list]And Ben Wallace has all of those qaulities. He is just the greatest at it, and proves that even a role-player can be a star.

A role player to me is the opposite of a star. Someone that can help the team without being a scorer. Examples are hitting open shots, rebounding, blocking shots, diving for balls, and following another star. These type of players need a star player as they aren't the playmakers.
Basically everyone in this league is a role player of some sort. They have a defined role, it's kind of hard to categorize what makes a role player.
In no does a role player leave his team for a huge ass contract. How much is Wallace gettin paid? A ton. In no way is he a role player. Just my opinion. I'm going with Najera. Loved him when he was on the Mavericks and still love the way he plays.
well im a Magic fan. and for me id say Grant Hill. ??? questions why him.?? for he's role being the LEADER of a very young team. he provides the role of Leadership. for the reason also , he gets injured all the time.. and all he can do when injured is cure himself in the hospitals and give advices to hes teammatesdeep! .. .. ..

He's the leader of that team. I think Hedo Turkoglu and Carlos Arroyo are better choices.Welcome to BBW, I hope to see you around.
Theo Ratliff or Bruce Bowen. We already have Theo but he's barely played. But both guys bring it all the time on the defensive end, and thats something the Celtics have lacked for years.
No matter how much money he gets paid, how many allstar games he goes to or if hes in the Hall Of Fame, Ben Wallace is a role-player, a great one, but a role player in my eyes. I didnt think so either, but hearing points from analysts on NBAtv and ESPN(as well as the Inside the NBA crew), I now think Wallace is a role player. He does everything Shane Battier, Bruce Bowen(except shooting) but to a great extent.
If I could have any roleplayer in the league for the Magic it would be a healthy JJ Redick, or Kyle Korver. The Magic need a consistent three point shooter, as they have most everything else. Someone for the Magic to kick out to on drives to the basket, or when Howard gets doubled.
Andres Nocioni. Guy is so damn tough. He is a decent shooter and good defender. A good rebounder as well. He's from Argentina so we all know he can pass to, I would love to see him play with Pierce on the C's.
Robert Horry. He might not show up for the regular season but everybody knows he will show up in the playoffs.
