Amen 59, I believe you speak for the Majority here...!

NTM- I've always raised my Sons, my Nephews, hell as much to anyone who will listen. Including having to counsel some borderline employees, during a termination screening, to execute or halt fire:

"I don't give a damn about what anyone says, I only give creedence to one's actions, and one's actions speak louder than words, and reveal the true intent of anyone". Yep, actions are louder than words.

...great retort...your wit flows like molasses.

...that's the sort of reply that typically comes from someone who is totally beaten.

I'm not sure why your still bringing this up, beating a dead horse. Are you trying to revive the Kevin Long firing debacle debate? Or simply promoting someone who walks in, goes ra ra go Yanx, and I can help this rookie (also) and that is supposed to get a rise out of us.

So, on the lighter side, any thoughts on Kevin Long's declaration of proclamation regarding the new players he's going to be working with.......?
.......yeah, I know....."he's probably already watched a thousand hours of film on those Met hitters".

And, unlike Pentland, he's already been a MLB hitting coach.
    lol.....no, wait....forget that part.

Have to admit Matt, that is a profound statement.
But where do personal insights, explainations and opinions fall into the equation?

Like when someone gets apprehended for stealing bananas and bread to feed their kids because the individual has fallen through the cracks and hasn't been getting his/her rightful earned benefits.

I'm sure the lawyer AND Judge will consider other things besides "actions".

Easy to make those bottom line statements when you're behind the big desk, and maybe independently wealthy/financially secure in your nice little controlled environment.

Honestly when was the last time you sat in court to merely watch what is going on. Let me make it more than clear, Judges do NOT want to hear the many BS but valid excuses. Believe me on this one. I got off with a very minor traffic ticket, along with a failure to appear, for a very legit reason. Kim crashed our car into the backend of another at 12 pm. I had to be in court at 8am, and did not get home til 3 am. No one was available to give me a lift to the Courthouse.

The one thing my Deputy Brother drilled into my head over and over, non stop, was STOP, don't go there with your justification no matter how true, clear or legit it is. The Judge hears shit all day long, and HE too, looks primarily at one's Actions 1st and foremost. Your lucky if he even asks for any explanation, and any BS he smells, well theirs a couple of Bailiffs ready, with plenty of cuffs in all sizes and colors, take your pic.

Somewhere in b/t the fine cracks and sediment is where the truth falls, either you stole those bananas and milk to feed your starving kids, the Judge could give a rats ass, he's not there to tell you how to get those food stamps, you may not even qualify for....

Believe me, blg, when I say this, with no spite or remorse towards your quote, I hear ya', I agree with ya', yet from the Justice I have seen, spending days in the courthouse simply cuz I was bored shitless, after I retired, and I wanted to watch my Little Brother be a Bailiff in action for a week. The shit I saw blew my socks off. A judge can be the most generous person you may ever meet, or the worst nightmare you may ever have. Just trying to tell it like it is.

In Caly with its self-entitlement systems, could really care less, about the details, other than the facts, and actions point blank. Doesn't mean I like or agree with it, thats simply and at times sadly how it goes, Que sera sera...mon ami..!

Believe me on another thing, Retirement is NOT what anyone says its cracked up to be. I honestly have more work to do now than when I worked prior to retirement.....

The theory of relativity hangs on what you see as a "independent, wealthy"? As well as a "Big Desk", now my desks is plenty big for myself, yet I have seen much bigger ones, and much smaller ones. So where's mine? In my Office at home. "Secured, nice little controlled environment"? You gotta be kidding me. I live 12 miles south of EAFB, where rattlesnakes and Scorpions are a bigger threat than Gang Bangers, and those GB's I have no fear of either. Why, cuz half of them played on my Little League Teams.

"Controlled Environment", you mean there is a thing in today's Society without an AR-15 to accompany one?....Not..! (give me a break) pretty please...LOL..., anything less than a few Mil is not wealthy, were the new Middle Class. I literally wear either a .44 Mag, or .357 on my hip on my 140 Acres of Mojave Desert. It's now passed escrow, and I say adieu to this boondocks life in the sticks, for YES city dwelling amongst the punks, GB's and other fools....at least their bits are not venomous....I'd rather face a Gang of thugs any day than a Mojave Green Rattlesnake, no shit...!!!

Yes, my friend, Talk is cheap, and indeed speaks louder than words, therein always layeth the true intent
, whatever you do, do NOT try this Social experiment out on a Judge, they're impatient as a whore who's late for her sugar daddy...!

Wow Matt, that's a lot of stuff.
Funny thing how you assumed those "rightful benefits" of my fictional petty thief to be food stamps.
Falling through cracks, errors, lost paperwork, legitimate victim of circumstances...ect.

Okay, let's move on to something you may not have seen in your week of sitting in a courtroom watching "Judges" not wanting to hear or unwilling to listen to any "crap".

Son, you absolutely missed the bus on this one.....holy cow....!

You gave a Hypothetical Q, and I gave you back a real life, honest real life situation. I should of known better, and gave you back a hypothetical answer: like hell let the shop owner shut the mongrel bastard thief., and don't lecture me, I bet I've done, given, and raised more for Charity to ensure many do NOT go Hungry, in only 2-3 decades, than you will in 80 years of your life......

Let me know when you've spent at least 1,000 hours minimum to helping your fellow mankind, and Community Services ordered by Judges don't count....

Have you once stepped foot into a Children's Aides Hospital/Hospice at all? To offer your help, getting these dying kids thru life, and death too..........until then-Then get off of my cloud....!

"Check your pulse it's proof that you're not listening to, The call your life's been issuing you, The rhythm of a line of idle days.........."

"Scared of a world outside you should go explore".......

Its okay Matt....you said Judges don't want to hear any excuses...remember ..?
Your big RED LETTERED words sayin actions speak louder than words? And when I raised a scenario regarding a parent who stole some bananas and bread because they didn't have money due to some screw up of the system which delayed their " rightful benefits" to feed his/her family?
Remember Matt......?...,and you responded with a convelescing anwer ASSUMING their "benefits" (earned) were FOOD STAMPS?.........coming back to you now?
Remember your big long rigamol about sitting in a courtroom for a week......?..........
......lecturing me about how judges don't want to hear about any other stuff ...."ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS"..... yep, and that fictitious petty thief of mine may have done the best thing outside of BEGGING to help feed his kids.

And then I provided that link....and all you could do is stamp your feet and try and impress me with you're various comfortable little contributions for the poor and unfortunate.

YOU ALREADY showed you're prejudice assuming/SAYING the petty thief who stole a few bananas and bread was expecting food stamps instead of his earned benefits. Lmao.

I bet you call the police whenever a guy down on his luck actually approaches you personally on the street and asks for some change lol

You were blown away by the link I gave you about a judge accepting sneakers as bail instead of money.
It didn't quite jibe with your week spending time as a court spectator.

Again, blg, let it go man. I said what I had to say; and you said what you believe, your op, and my op.

Let's not make a Mt. out of a Mole Hill....

for you to think I'm a bigot using other words to tap dance around such a moniker, is bullshit and you know it.

You also missed the part where I said, when YOU HAVE SPENT OVER 1,000 HOURS DOING SERVICES FOR YOUR COMMUNITY FOR FREE, AND NOT COURT ORDERED WORK PROGRAMS.

Indeed I have spent over 1,000 hours of my free time, *and free time is a true rare commodity to me,". You see I do give back a ton of my finances, time, and heart to anyone in need. Especially the freezing homeless and hungry, Let's put it this way, what have you yourself done, to ensure those who follow; live in a better world and life because of your contributions. albeit, time, physical labor, monetary gifts, heart to hearts with the Homeless and Hungry? I am not looking for so much as a pat on the back, for the 1,000 + hours I gave the Los Angeles Children's Aides Hospice. When others still felt you could get Aids from simply being around a person inflicted. Children do not give themselves Aids. The Weekends of Years, I spent doing Volunteer work for dying kids, cannot come close to anything I bet you've done for your community.

    * You insult me, when you say: I quote; "try and impress me with you're various comfortable little contributions for the poor and unfortunate." When you've done as much to refurbish condemed project housing, giving jobs, to vagrants, to help refurbish these housing units, as well as money and food at their beck and call. Finish up one unit buy another, get permits, and do it all over again. One has to admit, in some areas of NY there was a true drive to eradicate homelessness, and hungry...

I'm not looking to pat my own self on the back, I only did so much out of recognizing the humble side of life, one needs to bring forth, and execute.

I spent one solid week living on the streets and alleys of L.A. Skid Row, to try and provide help, shelter and food to those thousands of L.A. vagrants. Sad thing is half or more, don't want help, don't want job opportunites or even free housing.

I did not do these things alone, I am a lifetime member of the White Plum Sangha and ZCLA, ZMC, ZNYMC, and ZCNY....

Born in Yonkers, I was more than thrilled to call Bernie Tetsugen Glassman my mentor and friend. Bernie is a genius, who was the Vice President of Engineering on the DC=10 Airliner. He gave it all up, the big fat salaries, bonuses, and benefits, for a life on Skid Row in Ny, and a bought a bldg, to open the Greyston Bakery, (who supplies brownies to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream). Bernie took his profit, while teaching mindfulness, or Zazen while working. He bought up one condemend housing project, after another, obtained permits, put vagrants to work, refurbishing these project bldgs, then gave any and everyone food. Any vagrant could get a job, a bit of cash, a lifetime apartment, upon completion of the units. The onto another unit to refurbish. Every vagrant who joined, still has free housing, food, and jobs for life.

Now go preach to the choir......

BTW-blg, methinks ye doth protest too much, Or do you like to argue for the sake of it. No harm no foul here, but I gotta' admit your adamant approach of arguing, makes me laugh good and hard. Not at your expense, but simply laughter i find is the greatest gift one can give another, other than their heart.

One thing I learned in this life decades ago, a side you will rarely see or hear out of me, outside this post, is:

"Let Compassion be your Moral Compass thru this life"....otherwise, you and others your not helping are in serious trouble....

For your own blind sake....: (let me help you to who I really am, a side I don't share here on this board, as its not pertinet or necessary, were all here because we have a bond as Yankee Fans, and simply nothing more, other than some OT Fun here and there.....so take a deep breathe, and please look inside these links, then you will see who I am in my own time:-

When we bear witness, when we become the situation — homelessness, poverty, illness, violence, death — the right action arises by itself. We don’t have to worry about what to do. We don’t have to figure out solutions ahead of time. Peacemaking is the functioning of bearing witness. Once we listen with our entire body and mind, loving action arises.

Loving action is right action. It’s as simple as giving a hand to someone who stumbles or picking up a child who has fallen on the floor. We take such direct, natural actions every day of our lives without considering them special. And they’re not special. Each is simply the best possible response to that situation in that moment.
