Why would they want too? They have best record in the league and are showing no signs of fatigue of letting up?

I do. Honestly, they're just at another level from the Blazers. They're the best defensive team in the league (statistically), and they probably have the most fluid offense in the league. The way they move the ball, and move without the ball, is poetry.

And, I just have to add: Steve Kerr >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mark Jackson. He's really the only difference between GSW last year and GSW this year. Yes, they had injuries last year, but they have had injuries this year, too and just keep winning and winning big.

You dont just make a trade to make a trade. Who available can we get for scraps and a 1st that will put us over the top, who available for what we have in general will put us over the top? We dont know and the rumor is Chandler but he isnt an instant needle mover. Infact there isnt a star rumored to want out and if their was we wouldnt have the pieces for said star anyway.
It was like this last year as well but just because we dont hear rumors all the time doesnt mean our GM isnt on the phone trying to work something out.

I agree, I just didn't want to be the first to say that I don't think this team will win it all. The Blazers have to improve, They have to find more scoring in a night in & night out basis.

You think the starting line up is good enough to win it all? And by adding bench players we would have enough to get it done?
My question is who would you have gone after or who do you want to go after that will bring home the prize?

I actually do not think the core is good enough. I think they are close, but not quite there. As for the bench I think Green could have helped and I think Brewer could have helped, but neither would have put us over the top. I am all for getting the missing link, but have not yet seen that piece available.

I've come to the conclusion that we need to play our bench and develop different rotations now, mid season and I'm not convinced a new guy is going to have such a huge impact on our playoff run

I think the core feels like they're good enough. They have a chemistry and trust in each other that maybe second to none in the league. The problem is about the half way to 3/4 mark of the season they are becoming spent due to how much they the core have to put out. Both Nic and Wes are tired. How much longer will it be that guys like LA and Dame follow sute?

Get em some help Neil. Don't do what you did the last two years.

Because your points about the Blazers not being contenders would apply to GS.

We have the second best record with so many injuries, so your second point also applies to the Blazers.

One club is showing signs of digression. One isn't. The one prob has enough.

Well the argument was applying the rules OL2L used. GS had one major move and that was the coach. Everything else is just the same as the Blazers.

I would also argue that our team has the second best to best in all major defensive categories.

I get where you're coming from. But I don't think it's at all a stretch to say that the Warriors have simply been better overall than the Blazers this year, and consequently are a stronger title contender. Thinking that the Warriors don't need to make a move doesn't necessarily equate to saying that the Blazers also don't.

However, my issue with this line of thinking is that it doesn't really matter whether or not the Blazers might be good enough to win a title this year. What matters is whether or not the likelihood of the Blazers winning a title can be improved. You said yourself that a deal to bring in a slashing wing who can get to the line would fill in a significant gap, strongly improving their title chances. I understand that you don't believe that a player of that nature is available for a reasonable price; I would posit that Kevin Martin is a player of that nature, and likely is available for a reasonable price.

Of course, that's all speculation, but that's what I speculate.

Well yeah! We've had major injuries to starters and role players, yet here we are, still second best. Aldridge has missed how many games? How do you think GS would fare if they lost Klay for the same amount of games? Ironically, we talk about Portland having a easy schedule, well GS is even more easy.

I think we are a perfectly fine contender. I am not worried

I agree and I've said that we are just missing a wing that can slash and get to the line.

I also agree that the Warriors are contenders and most likely better than our team.

All I'm arguing are arguments about not making changes being a reason we aren't contenders when GS really didn't, yet they are still contenders. That doesn't make sense.

Gotcha, and I think I see what's going on. Personally, I think you're misinterpreting OL2L's statement. He said:

I don't read that as him saying "The team as it is right now will not win it all because the team last year was not good enough to win it all." I say that, because Blake/Kaman--along with internal growth--have clearly made the team better than it was last year, so that reasoning/conclusion would clearly be either ignorant or irrational.

I read that as saying, "The team last year was not good enough to win it all, didn't make mid-season changes, and lost in the playoffs. The team as it is right now will not win it all, so they should make changes to get better, so as to possibly not lose in the playoffs." Of course, this is me giving the best possible interpretation, which is my tendency, and is admittedly often incorrect. :)
