    Refer to posts 34 & 38 lol

But please, before you do that, did you want him to sign McCarthy , Max , Lester and Shields? Post 34, 4th paragraph. lol

Don't tell me you're not going to be patient with a couple of the young pitchers?....George Steinbrenner is alive and well!

Pineda has had injuries, okay let's sign another pitcher for 7 years and a gazillion dollars....Eovaldi got banged around in 2014, was he not long ago highly touted, is he young and healthy?
Never mind.....another 6-7 yr contract to a pitcher going into his 30s!

Will CC, with a 90 mph fastball, good curve ball and changeup be able to morph into at least a solid # 3 - 4 type?
He may no longer be an ace - but CAN help.
The Yankees want to find out...especially for that kind of money!

Nova? Has he pitched well before? Still relatively young?
Will he be one of the 10 percenters who don't comeback from that surgery?
Never mind, we don't care ....trade away Two or Three of your top prospects for Cole Hamels, and his salary.

    Lmao

Excuse me, I was responding to Rick's post.
    Thank you.

And as I said, the Yankees will win approx 90 games *all things being equal.

...just in case you want to play your little word games.

*no long term injuries to a couple few established regulars.

Before you go, APPROX 90 wins.! lol

I would too, and honestly whatever Cash-Box had to say, would all the sudden carry a helluva lot less impact or creedence...IMO...!

Hey, I am an optimist believe it or not. I'd love nothing more to say I have full faith the Yanx will win 100 or even 90 games, yet, I doubt the former, the latter maybe, and I hope so....! ie, the best for the Yanx, that is...!

I also believe the Yankees will win more games then last year (84). I'll go 86-88 TOPS!

...other than homeriffic "hopes", I don't see any reason to think this team will win 90 games.

Not to over simplify it, obviously alot of stuff happens throughout the season and nothing (big acquisition) jumps out at you about this team but here is my best condensed explanation why I think approx 90 wins:

Barring serious/nagging injuries to a couple of the regulars AND Miller/Tanaka can't be out long term. Okay, let's even assume Tanaka will need surgery.
lol, I must be nuts lol.

    Here goes:
I just think the bullpen will be deeper/better.
The SP will be respectable and could be surprisingly better.
Infield defense should be better from day one.

Combine all of the above with:
The lineup will be considerably better at scoring runs than last year.

Hey its your opinion & hell I hope you're right but winning 90 games depends on a lot.

    CC not continuing to decline
    Tanaka's arm holding up
    Teixeira (see CC)
Beltran having a healthy comeback season
Didi hitting 260+ with some pop while playing decent SS
The kids & Drew being productive and playing a solid 2nd base
McCann & Tex being able to hit against the shift
    Ellsbury staying healthy
Someone teaching Gardner how to run
    Pineda staying healthy
And hoping our 4th & 5th starters can produce.

    ...hence "homeriffic hopes".

...a solid BP is of little use and will be worn out if the starters can't go 5-6 innings...Gardner, Ellsbury, Beltran, Headley, Tex, McCann, CC, Pineda, Tanaka, Nova, etc., all have a history of injuries and there's no reason to believe they'll miraculously have an injury free season.

...with the exception of Tanaka (if he can pitch like last year and if his arm holds up) the Yanx have a bunch of #3 and #4 starters (not 100% sold on Pineda yet)...and if Tanaka goes down, it's pretty much over and they won't win 80 games much less 90.

...sorry, I wish I could be more optimistic but from my perspective I see more negatives and question marks than positives. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I just don't see it.

Rick, Ellsbury was one of the first guys on my mind when I said - "barring long term nagging injuries to a couple of the regulars" along with McCann and Beltran.

I don't believe whether or not Gardner improving his base stealing skills will be a significant factor in this team's chances of making the post season but we do need him healthy.

Regarding Tex and McCann hitting against the shift more often, I'm certainly in favor of it but maybe just a few more balls over the RF fence between them will help win a couple more games. The Yankees struggled to much at home last year and one of the biggest reasons was the lack of the long ball.

I don't think Didi necessarily needs to hit ".260" immediately this season overall ,
    but I'll take it.
What's more important is if he shows steady improvement (BA or OBP) vs LHP....he should do okay vs RHP, and if he doesn't, Houston, we have a problem.
He does have an OPS over .700 vs RHP, if he improves vs LHP his overall numbers should also rise.

I would keep an eye on Warren as a SP.
We can't chase our tails worrying about potential possible injuries here and there and neither can Cashman or any other GM.....there's only so many guys we can carry on the roster...lol....it is what it is, this is the team (so far).
Sometimes you just have to play your hand or throw the dice.

Keep your Optimistic cap on, I think you may need it by the 1st of September....

Hey, I want to be proven wrong, I want to see the Yanx win 100 games, who doesn't????

Yet, I've got my realist down to earth hat on, and we have yet to see, a true honest attempt to make the Yanks SP staff stronger, IMO. I would not bet a wooden nickel on C.C. or Tex, or....name that player___________fill in spaces__________, ___________

But DO NOT get me wrong, I want to see more than success, I want to see sheer over powering domination. With that, I am beginning to believe The Kidz, and Cash-Box will never be able to provide this much to us Fans. .... don't get me wrong, I already said it: "I'd love to be proven wrong"....why get your hopes up, only to be let down.

If there were some strong additions, then, I'd be as hyped as you seem to be....in the meantime, where's my cup of coffee...!

Between the Jeter hangover and ARod circus, I'm going with 80 wins and a losing season. Happy to be wrong, but this season could get very ugly quickly.

If they can all stay healthy & keep the missed games to a minimum the'll sneak in with 86-88 wins but being realistic I'm thinking a 3rd straight year of playing in just 162 games.

...yup, there's a distinct possibility that this team finishes last in the division...and like you, I hope I'm wrong.
