    Any tech savvy people here?

I've been thinking about installing the Technical Preview of Windows 10... The only concern is Stability. I only have 1 computer and I do a lot of video and photo editing for some freelance type of work. A fellow techy at my day job thinks I should go for it... He says its pretty stable... any feedback?

    Can you dual boot it?

That way you can try it and still boot your old OS

I use my windows PC for two things; forums and gaming.
Windows 10 is the biggest crime against the computer world; I literally can't run any game and had a lot of trouble navigating the home page. Shitty OS all around...

It's not even officially "Out" yet. Are you telling me you're trying to run games on a technical preview? Come on...

IF you're going to use Windows 10, at least throw it in a hypervisor and VM the shit. Just use it to learn about the nuances of the new OS.

A friend of mine works at Microsoft labs and was able to let me beta test. He wasn't excited about my reaction. lol

I've been having issues with it running smoothly and in 1080p on a VM. My biggest concern I guess is how Adobe products run on it... those are the main ones I use. @Denny Crane ... I've thought about dual booting but I'm honestly not too familiar with it so im trying to be careful because I need my PC in working condition. But I've heard from a few people I know that the newest build of Windows 10 is really awesome. I'm typically really impatient when it comes to this stuff... If I wasn't worried about my editing software I would probably take the plunge.

If you install the preview, it's likely to automatically install dual boot or it's going to replace your existing windows.

If it wants to replace the existing windows, you need to figure out a dual boot solution. Dual boot brings up a menu at reboot time asking: which OS to run?

It's going to be free for 7 and 8 users for the first year, how is it, people that are using the beta? I generally use my computer for games, and if it sucks i'll just stick with 7.

Yes, Windows 7 reaches end of support on January 13, 2015 along with Windows Server 2008, but the important piece here is that it is Mainstream support. This is not at all similar to Windows XP as stated in the cited article. When Windows XP reached end of life, it was done, kaput, belly up, pining for the fjords, kicked the bucket, shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain, joined the bleeding choir invisible, and its metabolic processes are now history.

Windows 7 only moves into Extended support. The cited site got a bit of it right. Extended support means that Windows 7's features will no longer be updated or new improvements made, nor will any further service packs be developed and distributed, but this DOES NOT mean that the operating system will stop receiving free security updates.

Honestly from what I saw, and how it goes. I wouldn't try gaming on it yet. Generally, the drivers aren't built yet, or if they are, they are so early in development that you wont see stability or performance.

And Win10 isn't going to propel your gaming into another world. It'll be on par with Win7/8 on same hardware most likely.

Downloaded it. Love it. Everything works great. There are a few bugs here and there with the general UI... little lag or a little buggy... nit everything is 100% but so far there's no way I can go back. Every program (chrome, adobe products etc...) has installed and worked great... I will be trying out some games in the next few days.
