http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dfRyH?...m=newsletter&utm_campaign=los-angeles-dodgers The Bums are in talks with a South Korea Investment Firm, for 20 percent stock. Not the 1st time the Bums have talked to S. Korean, or Mexican Investors, to sale Minority Stock, to Foreign Countries. These current talks could fall thru the cracks, or become the 1st over-seas Nation to buy a Minority Ownership. If this sale should happen, what are your thoughts? Personally, I thought this was what the WBC was about, competing Nations, to crown a WBC Champ; which by NO means equates to a true World Champ. In fact, I'd like to see the US, opt out of WBC play. I have not seen anything positive with players, who participate in WBC play, when they should be in ST, with their teams, stretching, working out the rusty joints, in ST with their MLB Teams. I see no sense in playing in the WBC period, for MLB players. Playing competitively, when they should be graduallywarming up in ST.
Yes, it sure would....and, I doubt other Owners, would buy into it.....I for one wouldn't.... And Yep, I'd opt out of the WBC as well.........I don't see anything positive for US MLB to be a part of the WBC....
The Mariners had been majority-owned by Mr. Hiroshi Yamauchi (owner of Nintendo) for two decades until his death in 2013. It was good not to have to move to St. Pete, but it sucked in that the people he set up (whether operating at his wishes or at their perception of his wishes) ran the team as if it was a profit-producing division of Ninetedo. He was never in the media, never saw the team play live, didn't go above approved budgets, didn't fire incompetent front-office execs, etc.
I'm not talking about the Bums board at all. Once again did the post fly over your head? this has nothing to do with any other board, it has alot to do with Guggenheim and his Quest to Monopolize MLB. Bums $50 Mil over the 2nd Team with the Highest Payroll, which are the Yanx...! Guggenheims Time Warner Bros. Cable Contract for Bums Games on Cable, is absurd, enabling the Bums to not only have the Highest Payroll in MLB, yet, with the TWB-C Contract, He's paying less out of pocket than even Miami.
The worst owner ever in MLB IMO, was David Glass, owner of the Royals, and CEO Prez of Walmart. He treated His Team like he ran Walmart. Cutting the Royals budget from $41 MiL, to $19 Mil, and made KC the laughing stock of MLB. Here's an excerpt from Wiki: While During his tenure as owner, Glass has been criticized for bringing the same cost-cutting management style he used at Wal-Mart to the Royals. He has garnered large profits, the Royals were barely competitive for most of the early part of the new millennium. Glass' management is cited for transforming the Royals from a winning team in the 1980s to one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball during the 1990s and 2000s.
Its a global economy....who said a team has to be 100% american owned? We do have a franchise in another country already....called Canada.
http://www.aol.com/article/2015/01/...ationally/21134522/?ncid=txtlnkushpmg00000021 Selig's last words as Commish. Paraphrasing those words, he stated, he expect the future of MLB to have an International Flavor, which goes beyond Canada, of course. Then our New Commish turns around and states, He foresees Montreal as having another MLB Team.....
Sarcasm is easily lost without hearing the inflection of a voice or body language. <SARCASM>I'll try with more diligence next time. </SARCASM>
Many owners these days are making money outside the US, only a matter of time to get foreign investors. South Korean baseball fans over a Facebook fag any day.
Actually this news doesn't surprise me at all, as noted the Bums have had talks prior with Mexico Leagues, and this is not the 1st time S. Korean Investors bent the ear of Bums Brass. Tho' with the offer they made, that would de-value the team considerably, if sold the 20% at a lower price, the S. Koreans are offering. So, I don't expect this deal to go down. In time, yes, I can see International flavor, yet that can wreak havoc on any players Circadian sleep rhythm. With those long all day flights....to and from overseas. Imagine having to go play Taiwan or Japan, hell, even Australia. That breaks a team down quick....
