So at first when I heard the Wizards signed DeShawn, I thought they were wasting money. Then I looked into his stats and saw he started every game for the Magic last year and was a very good defender, so I opened up to him a little more. Then the season began and I watched a few games and he was living up to his hype of a defender, but wasn't doing squat on offense. But lately Shawn has been doing some good things on offense, with his flashy dribble moves going straight into mid range jumpshots, he could be a force with a little coaching. If it wasn't for people like Carlos Boozer, Shawn could be in the top 5 in big surprises of the year.
I wouldn't rank him as a surprise. how can you rank him as a top 5 surprise when his stats are lower than last season?
Wasting money? We signed him for under a million dollars! For the production he's giving us lately, I think it's a great signing, especially at that price.
It's really encouraging too see his play as of late. He's the kind of gritty player that we need, someone who can dig in deep and work hard. I never noticed him before so I don't know what he was like before, but it's surprised me to see that he's also been kind of the main motor/motivator at times.
