Had to be one of the worst heading scratching ends to a SB EVER! You have the ball on the 1 yard line with IMO the best rushing QB in football & one of the best running backs in football (Lynch) & you throw the ball?

Absolutely no reason for a pass there. Carroll claims it was because of the match ups BULLSHIT! 3 chances to run it in from the 1? Just wrong. Exciting game though.

On the good news I had 0-0 so I won a grand on the 1st quarter.

...second guessing was predictable, no matter what the outcome was...but it's a shame that a very good SB is overshadowed by "the call". People are going to dissect this and point fingers because that's what Monday morning QBs do.
...Pete is taking the flack for his players on this one which is to be commended IMO. But the fact is the QB made a bad decision/throw and in that situation, if the receiver is clearly open you throw it to him but if he's not, you throw the ball away, the clock stops, and it's now 3rd down and you still have a time out left with 30 seconds to go. But the DB jumped the play and made a good play.
...yes, Lynch is a good RB but we can't assume he would have scored if they had given him the ball...and if he hadn't, they would have had to take their last time out which would have changed limited strategy and play calling.

...I thought it was a very good SB but someone has to win and someone has to lose and IMO, I think it's better to look at how the Pats won the game rather focussing on how Seattle lost it.

...after doing some more digging and reading, he Pats' defense like many other people were expecting a running play in that situation, which depending on your point of view, is a perfect time for a pass. (when the other team is not expecting it)

...on rushes from the one yard line this year, Lynch was given the ball 5 times...he scored once.

...also, in 2014 there were 223 rush attempts from the one yard line with a TD rate of 58%.
...........in 2014 there were 109 pass attempts from the one yard line with a TD rate of 61%...and 0 interceptions.

Good job Rick. My wife was incredibly lucky yesterday. At my daughters gymnastics meet in the morning she won the 50/50. She then had 4 & 4 so she won the halftime and third quarter box pool at work for the Super Bowl. I told her to play the lottery today.

As for the play call if you want to get away from it being stupid which I personally think it was there's this. The execution of the play was terrible. From Kearse getting jammed at the line allowing the corner to be free to come across and make the play. To the receiver who didn't make a strong attempt at the ball. To the pass from Wilson which needed to be on the receivers inside hip instead of leading him. Even if you didn't want to give it to Lynch there were plenty of other plays that would've been better. Wilson on an option or I think a play action using Lynch as a decoy would've worked very well. At worse you throw the ball out of the end zone and save your time out. The have two more plays and a time out to try and get it in. Trying to jam a ball into a tight spot it just asking for trouble there and they found it.

That call was terrible but let's not overlook how terrible the "Legion of Boom" was in the 4th quarter, giving up big 3rd and long plays with a lead. That defense looked pedestrian down the stretch.

I think the worst thing the NFL could have had after this season of side bars and disciplinary failures was having the Patriots win that game. I've never really trusted the integrity of football and do so much less now. Thank God baseball is coming and the rest of the hockey season can bridge us into warmer weather.

Seattle had time to run Lynch once, call timeout and still have time for two quick tries into the end zone.
Carroll and Wilson will have to live with this one for a loong time, lol.
Good game, these Super Bowls really take on a life of their own late in the games.
They have it all, strategy, tension, drama, big plays circus catches crushing lost opportunities.... The NFL has it going.

    Sorry to see it end.

It really was a great game. A shame it ended like that and with a brawl. Fighting belongs in hockey with men actually landing a few blows and coming back 5 minutes later.

Hockey is the only major sport I know of where one sport ends (hockey) & another takes over (boxing) while the refs stand around with there thumbs up there asses & watch. Don't get me wrong they're very talented athletes on ice & its a tough ass sport but not something I could ever get into. Besides if I want to see fights I'll go to a boxing match or MMA.

Hockey is also the only major North American sport where both teams line up after a playoff series and every man exchanges hand shakes after hard fought and many times bloody competition.

Playoff hockey...particularly the finals, is in a class of it's own for action, drama, physical contact, speed, grace, and quite a few man to man battles along the boards and in the "corners".... many of the players have battle bruises and cuts not only on their bodies but visible on their faces from the previous and/or current grueling playoff series.....
....and after ALL playoff series, both teams line up and shake hands in the classic ultimate sportsmanship ceremony.

    GREAT GAME, GREAT SPORT.

Does anyone really think they're stopping Lynch in that spot? Christ did anybody pay attention to what he did to the Packers? He's beast mode for a reason. Particularly in the playoffs the guy is an animal.

You mean we went to a Fight and a Hockey game broke out?

My niece, a gorgeous girl 25 years of age, works for the NFL, as an Usher in Phoenix. Regardless of what Stadium the SB is played in each year, she gets 6 free tickets for her family, and my only Nephew of my Brother, who's been a FB fan since he could speak......What a thrill of a ride....!

...we'll never know for sure one way or another but yes, it was entirely possible they may have stopped him. Like I said earlier, from the one yard line he was 1 for 5 this year...it was also the first time this whole year than an interception was thrown from the one yard line, by anyone.

...sure, they could have run the ball there but as the coach explained, they decided to pass because the Pats were in a goal line defensive set up and he felt a pass might catch the Pats off guard. If Wilson does his job there it's either 6 points and game over or he throws the ball away and stops the clock and it's still only 3rd down with a time out left. Wilson made the wrong decision by forcing the ball and he even said so, even though his coach fell on his sword for him afterwards.

...it's always easy to second guess but it's only a bad call because Wilson and the receiver didn't execute the play properly and a nobody jumped the play and won the game for the Pats.

More than that, even if they did stop Lynch, Seattle still could've then called a timeout
with enough time left for two more quick pass attempts into the end zone.

...people still trying to prove a negative.

...if they did run the ball and Lynch didn't score, yeah, Wilson could have had 2 more chances to screw the pooch as he did.

...and if they had 2 more chances with no time outs the Pats would've been stacked looking for the pass. Wilson's ill-advised pass on 2nd was called because the Pats were lined up looking for the run.

Possible? Sure anything is possible. But probability says scoring a TD without throwing a pass was likely given the down and time on the clock.
That said, them getting in that position due to that pass play hackey sack juggling act also was possible....but not nearly as probable, lol!

Equally as true. Probability is a bitch.
