If he is sulking and trying to play the "Spite" card, it will backfire if he makes any indication of it. If he is sulking he should take the high road, go defend his title and still hang out with the all stars AND SUPPORT HIS OTHER TWO TEAMMATES!!!! If he is not participating so he can truly get rest, then that really is the best thing and he should say so so rumors aren't spread. He is still young treading a fine line right now with popularity.
